Bullet Casings Linked to Marvin Harrison?

Posted May 6, 2008 by nick
Found in: Breaking News, What Were They Thinking!?, NFL

Marvin Harrison has been getting questioned recently for a shooting that occurred just outside his car wash and garage in Philadelphia. I didn’tMarvin Harrison really say much about this because for one: it was all over the news anyways. And two: the police said the questioning was just routine since it was his car wash and he wasn’t a suspect. They were interviewing a lot of people. And seeing how it’s Marvin Harrison, I didn’t think that he could be involved in such a ridiculous crime.

Well, it looks like the scenario may have changed slightly.

The police are now saying that six of the bullet casings found at the scene of the April 29th shooting belong to Harrison. The bullets were apparently fired from a gun owned by Harrison.

Harrison’s representative have said that he was not present during the shooting and that his gun was not involved, while his attorney has chosen not to release a comment.

I really hope that Harrison played no part in this shooting. For a player of his caliber and the way he has held himself on and off the field up until this incident has always been positive. I expect something like this from Pacman Jones. But Harrison? Never in a million years.

Peyton Manning Loses His Cool on the Sidelines

    Peyton Manning

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this side to Peyton Manning before. The quarterback apparently had some miscommunication with his lineman about who should be calling the plays in the huddle. And you gotta give the man a little respect for getting up in his teammates’ faces like a quarterback should.

But at the same time, it’s a little hard to take him seriously when he’s his voice his squeaking like a 14-year-old boy during puberty.

Romo and Simpson Can Now Have Quality Time

Amani Toomer - New York Giants

Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys were one of the many teams upset this weekend in the second round of the NFL Playoffs. Since Romo couldn’t lead his team to the NFC Championship Game, he can now spend some more PDA filled evenings with his new sweetheart, Jessica Simpson. I wonder if her parents will tag along again.

Here are the players who helped out their team this weekend and some who didn’t:

New York Giants 24, Dallas Cowboys 17

    • Eli Manning didn’t turn the ball over once and connected to Amani Toomer for two touchdown passes.

San Diego Chargers 28, Indianapolis Colts 24

    • Philip Rivers tossed for three touchdowns despite a non-existent LaDainian Tomlinson, who left with a leg injury.
    • Peyton Manning was his usual self with over 400-yards passing and four touchdowns, but it was his two interceptions in Charger territory that proved to be crucial.

New England Patriots 31, Jacksonville Jaguars 20

    • Tom Brady only threw two incomplete passes, connecting on 26 passes and throwing three touchdowns.

Green Bay Packers 42, Seattle Seahawks 20

    • Brett Favre and Ryan Grant each had three touchdowns, including 201 yards rushing for Grant.
    • Seattle’s running game was pretty much non-existent, as Shaun Alexander led the Seahawks with 20-yards.

Tom Brady is at is again, but Adrian Peterson was shutdown and held to only three rushing yards. Here are the players that made an impact this weekend.

    • Jason Witten hauled in 15 passes for 138 yards, including the touchdown.

Here are those who made a difference this weekend. For once, there won’t be Patriots player on this list, only because they play tonight.

    • Peyton Manning passed for 4 touchdowns and connected with Reggie Wayne for 2 of those who also finished with 158 yards receiving.
    • Tony Gonzalez finished with 10 catches and 140 yards for the Chiefs.

Here are the best of the best in NFL action yesterday. And surprisingly, Tom Brady wasn’t the most dominant player this weekend.

    • In a heartbreaking loss to the 49ers, Kurt Warner tossed for a staggering 484 yards and 2 touchdowns, but it was his costly fumble in the end zone that lost the game for the Cardinals.
    • Frank Gore did it all for the 49ers, running for 116 yards with 2 touchdowns and catching 11 passes for 98 yards.
    • Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald hauled in 9 passes for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns.
    • Colts signal caller Peyton Manning was back this week with 3 touchdown passes and 272 passing yards.
    • Despite not having any touchdown grabs, Patriot Wes Welker caught 13 passes for 149 yards.
    • Antonio Gates caught 6 passes for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns for the San Diego Chargers.
    • The Viking Defense had an awesome game with 3 out of their 4 interceptions being returned for touchdowns and 3 sacks.
    • Bronco Jay Cutler passed for 302 yards and 2 touchdowns.
    • Brett Favre was up there with Kurt Warner in terms of stats, but led the Packers to a win with 381 yards and 3 touchdowns.
    • Kellen Winslow caught 10 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown.
    • Drew Brees threw for 3 touchdowns and rushed for another one in a win over Carolina.
    • Chad Johnson had 3 touchdowns and 103 yards receiving on 12 catches.
    • Tom Brady passed for 380 yards and only 1 touchdown.

NFL Fantasy Stats of the Week

    h

For the first time in weeks, Tom Brady didn’t put up the best fantasy numbers of the week. Rather, it was a rookie who blew away the competition en route to setting a new NFL record.

Here are the players who stood out above the rest this weekend.

    • Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson had himself a record day. The Vikings’ rookie running back had an NFL single game record 296 yards on the ground with 3 touchdowns. He had runs of 1, 64, and 46 yards and an average of 9.9 yards per carry. It was Peterson’s second 200-yard rushing game of the year.
    • Just because Tom Brady didn’t have another great game, Randy Moss still put up his usual numbers. The Patriot had 9 grabs for 145 yards and 1 touchdown.
    • Marshawn Lynch was the other rookie running back with a good afternoon. The Buffalo Bill had 153 yards rushing with a touchdown and another passing TD on the day.
    • Clinton Portis almost had a 200-yard rushing day for himself, but fell just shy. The Redskin finished with 196 yards and a touchdown.
    • Drew Brees led the Saints to their fourth straight win by throwing for 445 yards and 3 touchdowns.
    • Colts running back Joseph Addai was a double threat yesterday as he ran for 112 yards and had 114 yards receiving with a touchdown.
    • Terrell Owens showed up his former team last night as the Cowboys receiver caught 10 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown in a win over the Eagles.

Note: San Diego Charger Antonio Cromartie returned a missed field goal 109 yards for a touchdown to set a new record for the longest play in NFL history.

    • It’s beginning to sound repetitive, but Tom Brady had another 5 touchdowns this week. But this time, he changed it up a bit: he went for 3 in the air and ran into the end zone for 2 more. His season touchdown total is now at 32 through eight games.
    • Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne took advantage of Marvin Harrison’s day off with 7 receptions, 168 yards and a touchdown.
    • Marques Colston hauled in 3 touchdown passes and 85 yards for the Saints.
    • The Patriots Defense: They recovered 3 fumbles, had an interception, 3 sacks and scored a touchdown, whooping Washington 52-7.
    • Joseph Addai runs in 2 touchdowns and catches another on 100 yards rushing.
    • Saints QB Drew Brees tossed 4 touchdowns for 336 yards.
    • Browns receiver Braylon Edwards hauls in 8 catches for 117 yards and two scores.
