    NBA Season Finally Begins!!!

Posted October 31, 2007 by nick

Last night marked the first day of the NBA season I couldn’t be more stoked!

Kobe Bryant dropped 45 and the Lakers still lost to Houston. Nothing has changed.

Carlos Boozer puts together his trademark double-double with 32 points and 15 rebounds in a rematch of last year’s playoff series win against the Warriors.

And the Spurs started off defending their title with a win over a Oden-less Portland team.

    Here’s to a fine season.

Oden Names New Dog Charles Barkley McLovin

    Greg Oden and Charles

Well, I guess if you have nothing else better to do than rehab a surgically repaired knee, then you might as well get a dog to keep you company.

That is what Portland Trailblazer Greg Oden announced on his Yardbarker Blog yesterday and he even let us in on the K-9’s unique name.

    Charles Barkely McLovin.

Now I wonder if he calls him by only his first name, “Charles,” or “C.B.” or when he pees on the carpet does he yell his first and middle name when he’s really angry. “Charles Barkley!”

In his short post, he describes the hassles and challenges of potting training and keeping track of the puppy, even admitting that he lost his new friend on only the second day he had him at home.

Charles Barkely McLovin. Sounds like a sexy hot dog. No? Nevermind.

Greg Oden to Miss Entire Rookie Season

Posted September 13, 2007 by nick

It looks like Greg Oden has become the David Beckham equivalent of the NBA.

The No. 1 pick in this year’s draft underwent surgery today on his right knee, his second procedure since joining the Portland Trailblazers, and is likely to miss his entire rookie season.

Team doctors performed microfracture surgery on Oden after they had found cartilage damage. He is expected to be on crutches for eight weeks with the full recovery period lasting anywhere between six to 12 months.

This is the second surgery for Oden since he joined the Trailblazers. He had tonsillectomy in July and had fully recovered from that condition. In college, Oden also had problems with his wrist, although he had lead Ohio State to the national title game where they eventually lost to Florida and he scored 25 points and 12 rebounds.

You know there are whispers starting to swirl around Portland saying, “we should have drafted Kevin Durant.”

Greg Oden’s Soon to be Ex-Home

I wonder what it feels like to be middle class one minute then a multimillionaire the next.

Greg Oden is living it right now.

Here is a home video he made weeks before he is supposed to leave for Portland of him and his family in his mom’s cramped apartment. That will soon all become a distant memory when I’m sure Oden will put them all up in a mansion somewhere.

Dude, and check out his bedroom. They had to convert it into a mini Nike warehouse because of all the free gear they are hooking him up with. And with that said, how come it’s always the rich folk who are given free things. Hook up the poor community!

Anyways, check out the video below.

Greg Oden to have Tonsils Removed?

Posted July 10, 2007 by nick

So when I came in this morning and read the headline that said surgery was going to endGreg Oden Greg Oden’s summer league play, I nearly freaked out.

What happened to him?! Is it serious!? Is it an ACL tear!?

Then I proceeded to calm down once I read that he might get his tonsils removed because they are so swollen, they are making it hard for him to breathe.

Apparently the big guy has been breathing noticeably heavy while running up and down the court and team officials said the only solution is to have the tonsils removed.

But even though it is recommend that he take them out, Oden has to still talk it over with his mommy first to make sure that it is the right thing for him to do.

You’d think that once you hand a kid over millions of dollars, he could make his own decisions. Sheesh.

    The Face of a Millionaire

Yes, that man to the right there is Greg Oden. And that face is guaranteed at least $9Greg Oden million over the next two years.

The Portland Trailblazers announced Monday that they signed the big man to a two year contract, with options for a third and fourth year.

His first year is worth $3.885 million and the second at $4.176 million. If they pick up his third year option, then that will bring him in $4.476 million.

I swear, the more I stare at that picture, the more I think he resembles Herman Munster. I don’t know, maybe I’m losing my mind.

The Suspense is Over, Portland takes Oden No. 1

Posted June 29, 2007 by nick
    Found in: Breaking News, NBA

For those of you out there who were dying to know who the answer to, “Who will go No. 1: Oden or Durant?” can now sleep well at night.No. 2 and No. 1 picks

The Portland Trailblazers took Greg Oden out of Ohio State with the first overall pick, ending speculation on who the Trailblazers would select No. 1. And as predicted, Kevin Durant out of Texas was snatched up by the Seattle Supersonics with the second pick.

For months, many experts didn’t know who would go first overall. As the draft inched closer though, Oden was seen at the top of most mock draft boards, although both are considered can’t miss prospects.

But like most drafts, there’s always a huge surprise. This time it came from a trade from the Boston Celtics and their fifth pick.

The Celtics traded with the Sonics to grab All-Star Ray Allen for Wally Szczerbiak, Delonte West and the No. 5 pick, Jeff Green from Georgetown.

The Celtics hope that by acquiring another prolific scorer to team up with Paul Pierce, it will help propel them back to the playoffs.
