So Long: Terrell Owens to be Cut from Dallas Cowboys

     Terrell Owens

The Terrell Owens era in Dallas is apparently now over.

Reports are saying the perennial headache is going to be cut from the Dallas Cowboys. Something that didn’t seem to be a reality when owner Jerry Jones hinted Owens wasn’t going anywhere.

Looks like someone had a change of heart.

Owens has been a cancer for every team he’s played for and has had a feud of some sorts with every quarterback he’s had, including Tony Romo last season, when he claimed Romo didn’t look his way enough.

I have a funny feeling he’ll end up in Oakland. Al Davis has a thing for overpaying talented receivers to cause a locker room ruckus. It wouldn’t hurt either, they’re already at the bottom anyways. Owens might as well get paid.

Somewhere, I picture Jeff Garcia and Donovan McNabb eating popcorn and watching Sportscenter, saying “I told you so.”

“I could play wide receiver for the Eagles”

    - Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant said after practice on Sunday.

I bet if he had said this on Saturday, Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid would have figured out some way to get him into a Philadelphia uniform. Who wouldn’t like to have a 6′6 wide receiver in their arsenal.

DeShaun Jackson Celebrates Touchdown Before Scoring

Posted September 16, 2008 by nick

    DeSean Jackson

I’m a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan. HUGE.

So last night during the Monday Night showcase between the Dallas Cowboys and the Eagles, I knew I was in for a great game. I had my Papa John’s pizza laid out in front of me, volume up loud, I was prepared (although the stupid delivery guy forgot my breadsticks, but I had to move on).

Anyways, in what was a depressing loss to the Cowboys, this game isn’t going to be remembered probably for the great offensive game it was, but more for the boneheaded play of the Eagles’ DeSean Jackson.

I love DeSean, don’t get me wrong. I was ecstatic when the Eagles stole him in the second round last year, but Jackson is known for being a showboat and VERY cocky. Like T.O.-level cocky.

And it showed last night, when Donovan McNabb and him connected for what would have been a great touchdown bomb. Jackson decided to showboat about a yard too soon, tossing the ball before he even crossed the goal line! STUPID! I nearly had a heart attack. The Eagles eventually scored, but seriously, who does that.

For Jackson, he’s now done it twice. Last night and in high school.

    McNabb and Westbrook

Usually you might get one or two players in a game who post up great fantasy numbers, but 5 in one game is a bit ridiculous. With that said, if you had at least one of these players on your roster, you had a good weekend.

    • Donovan McNabb silenced the critics with a near perfect performance against the Detroit Lions. He blew up, throwing for 381 yards and 4 touchdowns, going 21 for 26.
    • Eagles wideout Kevin Curtis caught 11 passes for 221 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also tied to the record for the most receiving yards in a half with 205.
    • Philadelphia running back Brian Westbrook had perhaps the best overall day, rushing for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns while also catching 5 passes for 111 yards and another score.
    • Detroit Lions quarterback Jon Kitna threw for 446 yards, 2 touchdown and an interception.
    • Lions wide receiver Roy Williams hauled in 9 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown.
    • Patriot Tom Brady threw for 311 yards and 4 touchdowns, connecting with Randy Moss for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns.
    • Green Bay Packer Brett Favre throws for 369 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also tied Dan Marino’s career touchdown mark with 420.

MNF: Where Are the Philadelphia Eagles?

Posted September 18, 2007 by nick
    Found in: NFL

I want last night to be erased from my memory. Kevin Curtis hangs his head down after dropping a pass.

    It was horrible.

    Horrific.

After a Week 1 loss where I saw the Philadelphia Eagles lose a close battle to Brett Favre and the Packers, I told myself, convinced myself, that it was just the Week 1 jitters that allowed them to let the season opener slip out of their fingers. Their defense was smothering, and although their offense and Donovan McNabb were rusty all night, I thought for sure they would improve on Monday night.

    Wrong.

They looked horrible. The offense couldn’t find the end zone and their defense looked lost at times. And who else lost their lunch when they saw Brian Dawkins laying on the field face down? Don’t even get me started on McNabb. The guy couldn’t hit water if he fell out of boat (cliche police). I wouldn’t even be talking about his erractic throws if he had hit a wide open Kevin Curtis for what could have been the game tying score in the final minute. The man was wide open!

But the game shouldn’t even have been that close. If Jason Campbell had hit a streaking Santana Moss downfield, we’d be talking about how the Eagles got blown out, rather than just “another loss.”

So after this 20-12 letdown to the ‘Skins, they now sit at 0-2 and at the bottom of the standings. This does not look like a team that went deep into the playoffs last year. The Eagles have now lost 6 of their last 7 with McNabb under center. He better get it together. He’s had weeks now to get the rust out, and the rest of the team had better start making plays. Their receivers have to fight more to get open.

If they lose to Detroit next week I don’t know how I’ll react. Maybe letting Jeff Garcia go wasn’t such a good idea.
