Man Eats 21 Pounds of Grits in 10 Minutes
An accomplishment like this cannot be overlooked, so since I made a post about Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest months back, this man is going to get attention as well.
Pat Bertoletti devoured an amazing 21 pounds of grits in only 10 minutes to earn the top prize at the first ever World Grits Eating Championship at Louisiana Downs Saturday.
The popular, southern breakfast dish was served to the contestants in 2 pound increments and out of the nine contestants, the top three combined to eat 60 pounds.
The win wasn’t easy for Bertoletti, as he barely inched out Tim “Eater X” Janus for the $4,000 grand prize, beating him 21 pounds to 20. And speaking of the hot dog eating contest, hot dog world champion Joey Chestnut, who polished off 66 hot dogs, came away in third place after eating only 19 pounds.
The remaining top seven eaters split up $10,000.
Oh, and sorry about the boring picture of grits mix. There didn’t seem to be any photos of the contest online yet. I’m assuming that it was a messy event.
