Manu Ginobli Plays Batman

Posted November 4, 2009 by sports
Found in: NBA, Videos

If the NBA is where amazing happens, the AT&T Center is where extermination happens. In case you haven’t seen the first NBA highlight of the year that has gone completely viral, take a look here. A word of caution, if you are a bat lover you may not want to see what San Antonio Spurs’ guard Manu Ginobli had in store for a bat that somehow made its way into the arena.

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. During a home game for the Spurs on Monday night there was an interruption to the game because of a bat that was flying around the court. Ginobli, who apparently is a man who likes to take matters into his own hands, swatted the bat in midair instead of waiting for arena personal to take care of the matter. After he struck the bat he proceeded to pick it up off of the floor and carried it over to the nearest arena attendant.

All good, right?

Wrong!

As a quick look (and common sense) over at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention website will tell you, a small percentage of bats carry the rabies virus. And since the bat was not available for testing, Ginobli had to receive four shots on Monday and is scheduled for four more sessions in the next month.

The moral of the story: while it might be fun to play Batman, animal extermination is best left to the pros (not the NBA variety).

Cheryl Miller and Scott Pollard Feud on NBA TV

Cheryl Miller and Scott Pollard feud on air

Cheryl Miller does not appreciate tardiness. At all.

And if you happen to be late, or just don’t plain show up for one of the programs she’s co-hosting, then she’ll let you know it. And she won’t be subtle about it either.

Scott Pollard apparently missed his pre-game and half-time show interviews with Cheryl Miller on NBA TV and she let him have it. There was even a one-on-one challege between Cheryl and Pollard.

Here, check it out for yourself.

MMA Video: Michael Westbrook Beats Up a Bully

 Michael Westbrook

I just got noticed of this show, and I don’t know how I missed it.

First, let me ask you. Do you remember Michael Westbrook? Of course you don’t. He was in the NFL for all of 5-minutes. And instead of making headlines on Sundays, he made more news when he beat up teammate Stephen Davis during practice one day while a member of the Washington Redskins.

Well, come to find out, Westbrook is still getting paid to beat people up.

Westbrook, who apparently is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belt, was a guest star on MTV’s Bully Beatdown. The premise of the show is to travel town to town to find the biggest and baddest bully, and put him in the ring with a real MMA fighter.

I’m not gonna lie, I already like this show.

 Coach K plays Guitar Hero

It looks like everyone is getting in on the Guitar Hero action. That includes college basketball.

But instead of Tyler Hansbrough, Blake Griffin and other collegiate stars starring in the latest spoof of “Risky Business” for the Guitar Hero commercial, it happens to be coaches sliding across the living room floor.

Coach K, Bobby Knight, Rick Petino and Roy Williams showed us their all for the latest promo. Check it out.

Peyton Manning and Kenny Chesney Sing Something

 Peyton Manning

You gotta love drunk karoake.

Anyone thinks they can hold a tune when given a microphone. And in this case it’s Peyton Manning. Apparently he and his pal Kenny Chesney decided to do a duet at some bar.

Peyton is better off sticking to his MasterCard commercials. I don’t see a future in singing anytime soon. Even if your pal has connections like Kenny Chesney.

Hockey Video: A Different Kind of Hockey Brawl

 Sledge Pants

Referees have a hard enough time breaking up hockey fights. The players are on skates, sliding around, throwing elbows.

But now imagine if the players are only a few feet off the ground and are riding on sleds. They’re like little missles when they come storming in.

Check out this fight between the US and Canadian sledge hockey teams, when a US player rams into Canada’s goalie.

Will Smith Stumbles and “Boom Goes the Dynamite!”

Will Smith

If you caught the Oscars last night, then you might have caught Will Smith’s little slip up when he was presenting an award. Well, he took it with stride and instead of cracking, he coined the term made famous by the Internet, “BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE!”

If you’re not sure how this originated, it was first shouted by sportscaster Brian Collins during a telecast where he was fumbling so bad for words, that he just up and blurted this catchphrase.

Below are videos of both Smith and Collins.

Chase Budinger

You gotta love instant replay.

It not only captures great highlights, but it also catches people in a bold lie.

Such is the case of  Houston basketball player Aubrey Coleman. After watching this video, would you believe his comment that he “didn’t mean to” step on Arizona’s Chase Budinger’s face?

This video says otherwise.

Blindsided! Lacrosse Player Has His Bell Rung

Lacrosse

Lacrosse Equipment

I can honestly say I’ve never watch a full lacrosse match.

Something about running about, tossing a ball back and forth, doesn’t seem so exciting to me. I always knew the game was a bit rough, and this vicious hit proves the point.

It’s like playing hockey, with half the gear. And no ice. And no skates.

You get the point.
