We watched him for years on Monday Night Football and now NBC’s Sunday Night Football is never going to be the same.

John Madden, the Hall of Fame coach and NFL broadcaster, is hanging up his mic one last time and retiring. The 73-year-old former Raiders coach has spent nearly 40 years involved in the NFL and has won 16 Emmy Awards for his work in the booth.

I’m not going to lie. When I first heard Madden was going to retire, I broke down and cried for a good 5 minutes. Then I read further and saw that it was just from the broadcast booth and that his video games would continue.

For a second there, I didn’t know what I was going to do with my life from the hours of 11 AM to midnight.

No, this isn’t the lineup for the new cover of a Wheaties box, but rather, these four are starring in a new commercial for Guitar Hero World Tour of all things. And to be honest, it’s not half bad. I’ll to the first to tell you, I even cracked a smile.

Watching the four of them playing air band in tribute to Tom Cruise’s performance in Risky Business had me bust a gut. The only thing I squirmed at was Michael Phelps. He looked a bit awkward manning the guitar and, is it me, or is anyone else on Phelps overload?

Has Tony Romo already mended his heart and moved on from hi apparent “great friendship” with Carrie Underwood?

It appears he may have when his new “friend” Sophia Bush, the star of One Tree Hill, showed up to teammate Terence Newman’s house to watch Romo play Guitar Hero III against Carmen Electra online.

Bush and Elektra? Not bad Romo. Not bad, but I still hate the Cowboys.

I’m not one to say this, but “I told you so!”

The Madden Curse is real, as this year’s cover boy Vince Young was helped off the field after suffering a quadriceps injury yesterday in the Titans’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I’m sure Young will make it back sometime this season, maybe even next week. But if history has anything to say about it, he won’t be the same and won’t nearly be as explosive.

With Madden 08 having been on the shelves over a week, I thought I’d post a quick reference to who exactly is the worst player on the game this year.

Now we all have a good idea who the elite are of the game (although I don’t believe Brian Urlacher is the best player on the game), but the worst is not exactly as familiar.

So with out further ado, the player with the worst rating on Madden 08 football is….

Drum roll please…

Is Oakland fourth year linebacker out of the University of Virgina, with a rating of 55…

ISAIAH EKEJIUBA!

If I were you Isiah, I’d be a little upset. Even Miami punter Ryan Flinn beat you with a rating of 58.
