Kevin Costner to Bring Baseball to Illinois Suburbs

     Kevin Costner

“If you build it, he will come.”

This quote should be familiar with any movie lover and baseball fan. Kevin Costner is hoping “he” will turn into “they” as he attempts to field a minor league baseball team in Zion, Illinois.

Costner has become one of the primary owners of the Northern League expansion team and is planning to start building the stadium this year, in hopes of fielding the team for the 2010 season.

Costner has always been a big baseball fan, but lets hope he doesn’t become one of the owners who buys a team, hoping he can hit the diamond himself at times.

But if you’re actually interested in attending one of their minor league games, season ticket reservations go on sale in about a month.

Wax On Wax Off: Jackie Chan to Star in Karate Kid Remake

     Jackie Chan

Jackie Chan’s career must really be hurting. Either he’s sick of waiting on Chris Tucker for Rush Hour 200 or he seriously needs work.

Apparently, Overbrook Entertainment, owned by Will Smith, is bringing back the Karate Kid franchise with Jackie Chan to star alongside Smith’s son Jaden. Chan is to play a character, like Mr. Miyagi’s, where he’s the mentor who tries to teach Smith to draw on his inner strength to overcome school bullies.

I’m not sure about this one.

I wonder if Chris Tucker will be the leader of Cobra Kai?

All Football Movie Team by DOTB

The guys over there at the Doberman on the Diamond came up with an interesting All Football Movie team on their blog.

I have to say, it’s quite the assembly of superstars, show-offs and eccentric personalities. Gotta love it. I’m just curious as to where Rod Tidwell from Jerry Maguire is on this list. Maybe put him in as the third, slot receiver? We all remember the hits he was taking over the middle.

I’m happy to see that our boy Forrest Gump, above, made the list though. “That boy sure is a runnin’ fool.”

Check out who made the cut.

I can’t believe I almost overlooked this and I must now pay it the attention it deserves.

Happy 40th Birthday Will Ferrell! You’re my hero.

“If we went to a Halloween party dressed as Batman and Robin, I’d go as Robin. That’s how much you mean to me…”

You know, as I followed the Utah Jazz through the NBA Playoffs this year, I couldn’t quite put my finger on where I may have seen Andrei Kirilenko before.

But then it became so clear once I read the Top 30 Villians in Sports Movies on Rivalfish.com.

It’s Ivan Drago from Rocky IV!

    Coincidence? I think not!
