2008 Predictions on Why Carl Pavano Will Miss This Season

Posted February 28, 2008 by nick

Carl Pavano

Do you guys remember Carl Pavano?

Yeah, he was the other good pitcher beside Josh Beckett when the Florida Marlins were actually good and won the World Series. He was linked to gorgeous celebrities like Alyssa Milano and had one good season where he cashed in by signing a 4-year, $39.95 million dollar contract with the New York Yankees in 2004. The problem is, the guy hasn’t played since arriving in the Big Apple except for a few games here and there.

If there is a guy out there who has a black cloud hovering over his head, it has to be Carl Pavano. The guy has had some injury to keep him out of the lineup the past few seasons, so it’s only a matter of time till it happens again.

So the guys down at The Sports Hernia went ahead and compiled their own list of the reasons why Pavano will miss the 2008 season.

My favorite is that he “gets hit in the head by a stray Nerf ball.”

Newscaster Gets Harassed, Brings the Pain

Remember when we were kids and if you saw a newscaster doing a story, you always tried to pop in the background, hoping to get a shot in the 6 o’clock news. The reporters would think it was cute and would usually leave you alone.

But apparently when you’re in your twenties and you have a stressed out news reporter, things aren’t as cute.

Now, I’m not so sure as to who will make the headlines for this story. The woman or the man who ran away like a little girl.

I know this video is random, but it’s too funny to pass up. It reminds me of the thief tackling Santa, when citizens of the public take matters into their own hands.

Enjoy.

Spurs Score Only 5 Points, Atlanta Hawks are Doomed

If the Atlanta Hawks are hoping to make the playoffs, then they better figure out a better way to play defense for four quarters. Or score more points. Whatever works best for them.Tim Duncan

They did a great job in the first quarter, holding the San Antonio Spurs to five points. Yes, FIVE POINTS. The defending champs scored only five points and still won the game 89-74. How embarrassing is that? Even I can find a way to score five points in a quarter.

Nick drives the lane, spin move around Marvin Williams, reverse layup and a foul, 3 points. Pump fists a la Jordanesque. Goes to the bench for an 8-minute power nap, comes back and hits a miracle 3-pointer at the buzzer. Six points! Nick wins!

I don’t know how in today’s game, a team like the Spurs can’t score double digits out the gates, but I feel worse for the Hawks. How embarrassing is it that they couldn’t hold onto the lead the rest of the game and keep up the intensity. Where’s the killer instinct? Apparently they’re going to need a lot more than Mike Bibby if they’re going to make the playoffs.

I’ll be waiting by the phone with my head band and Jordans.

Darren McFadden Baby Rumors Swirl at Combine

Darren McFadden might not be the only one jumping up and down after he ran a 4.27 second 40-meter dash at the NFL Combine.Darren McFadden

A certain young lady or ladies may have been cheering a bit louder than others.

Apparently McFadden told a team that he is expecting two children, while also a rumor of him battling another paternity suit has started to circulate.

Why can’t these guys just try to stay out of any trouble. Don’t they know that there are some women out there that are just vultures looking to lock up any athlete with pro aspirations. Let’s just hope isn’t the case with McFadden.

I can’t help but visualize any of these women screaming, “SHOW ME THE MONEY!” while he was sprinting.

Shaq and Jason Kidd Both Lose in Debuts

Posted February 21, 2008 by nick
Found in: NBA

It’s just the first game right?Shaquille O'Neal, Paul Gasol

We shouldn’t base the first game on how they will help their new teams in the long run, right?

Well, if that’s the case, then there still is some hope for the Phoenix Suns and the Dallas Mavericks as both teams lost with their new additions, but there was some promising stats.

Shaquille O’Neal showed that he could last in the high octane Suns offense, although it’s not known for how long. He put up some decent numbers, finishing with 15 points and 9 rebounds, but the Suns couldn’t stop Kobe and the Lakers, losing 130-124.

As for Jason Kidd, the Mavericks didn’t give up as much points, but the result was still the same. Kidd finished with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, but he also had 6 turnovers while the Mavs lost to the Hornets 104-93.

In defense of both players, they had to go up against two top opponents in their debuts, and in more defense for Shaq, this was his first game back in over a month.

Here’s to an interesting second half in the West.

The Philadelphia Eagles are not Music to our Ears

Michael Jackson - Thriller

After watching this video this morning, I can see why I have never seen it before. It’s dreadful.

I don’t know how any team could not learn from the Chicago Bears and their Super Bowl Shuffle, but apparently the Philadelphia Eagles didn’t learn a thing when they decided to go through with their own music video in 1988.

Check out Jerome Brown dressed up in red leather. He looks like an oversized Michael Jackson from the Thriller video.

Kyle Kendrick Hopes the Food is Good in Japan

Posted February 19, 2008 by nick
Found in: MLB, Videos

Some pranks take proper planning and determination to make sure they are carried out without any error.

The Philadelphia Phillies’ Brett Myers pulled out all the stops to prank fellow pitcher Kyle Kendrick recently, having him convinced that he had just been shipped to Japan for another pitcher in return.

But Myers didn’t do it himself, he didn’t even deliver the message. He had manager Charlie Manual and assistant GM Ruben Amaro deliver the news and even had the local media in on it.

The best part of it all, was that it was all caught on tape.
