Kansas State Hands Kansas Their First Loss

All good things have to come to an end and that’s what happened last night when Kansas State handed the Kansas Jayhawks theirKansas Jayhawks lose to Kansas State first loss of the season, winning 84-75.

Kansas’ loss now leaves Memphis alone on the undefeated list. But the win for Kansas State is much bigger than Kanas’ loss. It was the Wildcats’ first victory at Kansas in 24 years.

Now it looks like all eyes will be on Memphis to see if they can become the New England Patriots of college basketball and take their undefeated record to the final four.

Johan Santana Traded to the New York Mets

It looks like Johan Santana found his way to New York, but it wasn’t to join the Yankees.Johan Santana

The former Minnesota Twins ace was traded to the New York Mets in exchange for outfielder Carlos Gomez, pitchers Philip Humber, Deolis Guerra and Kevin Mulvey. The Twins get the Mets’ best farm players while New York gets arguably the best pitcher in the majors, pending a physical and contract extension.

Not a bad price for a two-time Cy Young award winner. Santana joins a staff that includes Pedro Martinez, John Maine, Oliver Perez and Orlando Hernandez, giving the Mets a strong starting rotation and a good replacement to the recently departed Tom Glavine.

This wasn’t the scenario I pictured Santana to be dealt to, but the Mets were the team to give the most up for him. I would have loved to have seen him go to the New York Yankees, but apparently they weren’t willing to give up their top prospects. The Boston Red Sox were also a top candidate for Santana, but their offer wasn’t up to par with what the Mets were willing to offer.

Brady Anderson is the Man with Online Chicks

You’d think that a man who was an All-Star, smacked 50 home runs in a season and raked in millions of dollars in the major leagues could find a chick the old fashioned way.

That doesn’t seem to be the case for former Baltimore Orioles outfielder Brady Anderson.

Apparently Anderson has been roaming the Internet for true love and his way of sweeping them off their feet is to text them pictures of his abs.

He’s just a modern day Casanova I tell ya.

    $19,446…

     Super Bowl XLII

That’s how much people are willing to pay for Super Bowl XLII tickets this year.

Asking prices from people on StubHub, a unit of eBay, Inc., range from $2,450 to $19,446.

Not a bad profit margin for tickets that were originally priced between $700 and $900 for the main event between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.

This goal by Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets is ridiculous. I had to share if you didn’t see it already. You can’t teach those moves.

Jose Canseco Tried to Blackmail Magglio Ordonez?

Posted January 24, 2008 by nick
Found in: Breaking News, What Were They Thinking!?, MLB

    Jose Canseco

I wish Jose Canseco would just go away, but with all the steroid talk in baseball, how can Mr. Steroid himself avoid the press.

And with Canseco’s new book Vindicated due out March 31st, The New York Times has reported that Canseco had tried to blackmailMagglio Ordonez Detroit Tigers outfielder Magglio Ordonez for cash to avoid being mentioned in his book.

Canseco has denied asking Ordonez for money and also failed to comment whether or not he mentions Ordonez in his new book. Ordonez notified Tigers president Dave Dombrowski that one of Canseco’s friends had tried to get in touch with him, but not sure why. The two were teammates for the 2001 season while with the Chicago White Sox.

Now this leaves me with a couple thoughts. Is Canseco really going around trying to blackmail players for money to keep them out of his book and are those players actually paying him to keep quiet?

Let’s just hope that this new report is false and players haven’t stooped to a new low.
