Who Would You Rather Have? Kobe or LeBron?

Who Would You Rather Have on Your Team – Kobe or LeBron?

After LeBron James and the Cavs’ last weekend upset of the Pistons helped surge them into the NBA Finals and with Kobe Bryant’s “trade me” antics, I’ve come to this idea.

Who would I rather have on my team? Kobe or LeBron. One was labeled the best player in the game while the other is considered the heir apparent to Michael Jordan. They both possess uncanny talent, but who would I want to lead my team?

    Scoring

Kobe seems to score at will sometimes. He can shoot the three ball from anywhere on the court and in the highest pressure situations. Since the departure of Shaq, has seen his point average reach Jordanesque numbers.

LeBron, although only 22, isn’t too shabby at scoring either. He’s a slasher and his jump shot has developed into a clutch weapon as you saw during the Conference Finals with the Pistons.
Kobe has won the last two scoring titles and that is the only reason why he gets this vote.

    Edge: Kobe

    Teammates and Talent

Kobe complains that he doesn’t have a talented team and can’t win with the bunch he has. He demands to be traded, while his teammates and coaches in the past have said they don’t want to be around him.

LeBron doesn’t have nearly as much talent around him as Kobe, but finds ways to win. He doesn’t complain about his teammates. He makes them better. Players want to play for him.

    Playoffs:

Kobe has yet to win a series since they traded Shaq. While his numbers have soured, the Lakers aren’t winning like in years passed and even bringing back Phil Jackson hasn’t seemed to have helped. Pointing blame at others rather than shouldering the load himself seems to be Kobe’s explanation.

LeBron’s numbers speak for themselves. Three years, two playoff berths and one NBA Finals. That is all without a true big man and without another superstar talent to compliment him. He just knows how to win and all before the age of 25. And when it came down to crunch time, he takes over. As evident in Game 5 against the Pistons when he single handedly took over in the fourth quarter and overtime to score 25 straight points.

    Edge: LeBron

Final Score: Kobe 1, LeBron 2.

I’ll take the King any day of the week. He brings less headaches, no criminal allegations and endless potential.
