A Little Bit of Grizzly Bear Trivia
Looking back a little bit ago, I noticed that I posted some grizzly bear trivia after they were taken off the “threatened” endangered species list. Well, to add on to that little tid
bit, here are some other facts for you:
- Number of grizzly bears in the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem when they were listed as being threatened in 1975: 136-312. Number today: About 500.
- It’s been 16 years since there was a grizzly bear hunting season in the Lower 48.
- Heaviest grizzly bear ever recorded: 1,496 pounds!
- Average weight of a Lower 48 grizzly: 400-600 pounds.
