My dream is to custom build my own home from scratch paying homage to all my favorite architects. A prime example of where my priorities are: I don’t dress well. I drive a lemon. Like most Americans, I fell in love with sports from a young age and have stayed involved in one way or another to this very day. Being raised in Alaska also exposed me to the great outdoors and wildlife of one of the most beautiful places in the world. After graduating with a degree in journalism, I have covered events in sports, outdoors and entertainment and have been published in numerous newspapers and online media. So here I am, doing what I love to do: reading, writing and living everything that has to do with sports and outdoors.

Let’s see…I’m a magazine writer, I like black and white movies and picnics, and I used to live in Hawaii. When I’m not on deadline, I enjoy lying in bed all day amongst a slew of magazines and reading all of them one by one. But most importantly, I love fashion. One of my favorite things to do is people watch, find someone with an interesting look and mentally analyze their personal style from head to toe. Another thrill: finding something really cute for really cheap. And my last confession is that I always shop alone because none of my friends or family can tolerate the torture of being in one store for hours as I scour every clothing rack and pile in the joint in hunt of the perfect piece.

When I was 16, I knew I wanted to surround myself with the hottest crowd; the hottest style and have the hottest models walk down the runway in my designs. I have been working all over Southern California for the hottest retail companies to build my resume to soon be able to move down to Los Angeles and really begin living my dream!

Let’s see. I moved to L.A. from Tucson, AZ five years ago. I love it here. I moved because I wanted to work in the entertainment industry and so far, so good.
I love almost anything pop culture. My favorite TV shows right now are “Saturday Night Live”, “30 Rock” (Tina Fey is my idol), “The Office”, and “Lost”. I’m a girl, so of course I love “Sex and the City”. I watch movies from Netflix religiously, mostly indies. I love indie music, photography, writing, and art, really anything that has to do with self expression.
I heard about this blog through a friend and since I am a victim of the over-consumer-ism in this country, my first question was, “Where can I sign up??” I am thrilled to be guest writing on this blog.

Ok, about me. Where do I start? I’m a physical therapist by trade but a wannabe interior designer by heart. In a space, I see color, textures, focal points & the symmetry (or asymmetry for that matter) of things. I love both the charm of vintage & the clean lines of modern décor. I’m an eternal multi-tasker & insanely believe that every minute should be productive. Not to say that I don’t enjoy life. I love traveling! My dream career? I’m a busy mom to 2 rambunctious little boys. My oldest just turned 5 and the baby is now 3. Prior to being a mom, I spent years as an aesthetician, freelance makeup artist and also in management for major cosmetics lines (a far cry from my Political Science background). As a person with a passion for both the industry and natural and green ingredients, I developed my own skin care line which is sold on Etsy.com. My handmade facial cream is featured in the October 2008 issue of Body + Soul magazine.
I’m a certified aromatherapist and Reiki Master/Teacher, so you’ll probably read some posts about the myriad benefits of essential oils. I love to write, and have been featured as a guest writer in online magazines, including Wickedly Chic. I have a beauty blog, The Chic & Green Blog, last summer. I love to get people interested in Indie shopping, purchasing handmade goods from independent businesses. I am the mother of two little boys, a wife and wardrobe stylist living in Los Angeles. I’ve worked in the business for over 10 years dressing actors for commercials, as well as with bands and solo artists. I’m not sure what’s more difficult; changing diapers and trying to reason with someone who has yet to fully master the English language (I’m referring to my toddler, not the bands) or watching two successful musicians fight over a plain black t-shirt. I’ve done all of the above and am currently in the process of marrying my two worlds. I write a fashion blog for moms (lastylistmom.wordpress.com) who like me occasionally struggle with getting out of their sweats, not to mention the house. I speak of what I know.
