Walmart’s newest dedication to using social networking tools and Web 2.0 interfaces may be rooted in capitalism and greedy corporations, but there are some great user benefits that save the college-bound a few hundred in shipping, packaging, or unnecessary double and triple trips back and forth to the local department store. Walmart.com’s new College 09 site has a wonderful selection of thrifty and stylish supplies for the young and the educated, including some “Value Bundles” that should be checked out for their super thrifty status. Featured on their top selling value bundles are:

Kalorik Sunny Morning Basic Kitchen Appliance Set, Tangerine and White: $85.00 Coming with a toaster, a blender, a coffee maker and a kettle, this is a cute set that will brighten any freshman’s smile when they wake up for that first 8 a.m. class.

Another great steal is the Girl’s Twin Bedding and Towel Set at $45.00, with a bright lively pattern for the comforter and sham and 6-piece towel set for all your bathroom needs.
    girls towel set

Now what about the boys? While the girls have their bright orange kettles and striped comforters keeping them colorful and hydrated during finals, what will the boys use?

I won’t lie, I’ll suggest the Mainstays Tall Corner TV Stand and Viore 26” Class LCD HDTV Bundle for $349.00 out of experience and necessity. 26″ HDTV with digital tuner and the stand makes this a complete package, and perfect for the Xbox hookup. No joke, these things are a necessity! Video games are a growing market, the boys are doing “research” into a prospective career field. No lie!!

    I love a good FONDUE! Let’s get to dipping…

Posted October 9, 2008 by evette

Well when my friend invited me to her fondue party I was reluctant at first. The idea of sitting around waiting for tiny pieces of meat to cook didn’t really appeal to me. Not so much with the patience am I. :)

Turns out the whole shindig was a blast! Great times, gives people an opportunity to get tipsy and talk. She had all the prep work ready. Chopped pieces of raw meat and chicken, assorted delicious sauces to dip them in when they were done cooking and she even had a dessert fondue set up. What I learned was that you need to add some oil to the chocolate as it melts to prevent it from sticking to the pot and so it remains fluid and not cake up and turn into a molten rock! The whole affair was very pleasant and quite delicious. Now I want one, a fondue set that is.

So here are some options I am debating on, what do you think?

Discount Kitchen Appliances - Low Priced Sandwich Maker

I have been hankering for the perfect grilled cheese sandwich for over a week now. It’s odd I can’t explain it, from time to time a craving will hit me and I am completely unable to shake it off.

Well this past week and half it has been the thought of melted cheddar between grilled buttery bread. Turns out my mom started cleaning out and re-distributing old kitchen appliances that she has collected over the years that she no longer uses. Apparrently she is running out of counter space.

Well her loss is my gain because I found the best sandwich maker and finally was able to quench my grilled cheese sandwich thirst. Not to mention I made a couple of grilled ham and cheeses while I was at it for the room mates. :)

The model I picked up from my mom is called the Proctor-Silex 25400 Sandwich Maker.

It’s fast and easy to use, butter your toast, stick the goodies in between and smoosh that baby down. It has a little light that tells you when it’s ready and has easy to clean non-stick grids.

    $29.00 now $25.00

Start making the toasty, cheesy sandwiches of your dreams today… shop or purchase the Sandwich Maker by clicking here.

Now this is a convenient little tool. If there’s one thing I can’t stand it’s going through the trouble of taking the blender down from the cupboard and having to clean it just to make one blasted little smoothie. Usually, I’ll forgo an urge for a fruity concoction just to avoid the hassle. And I know I’m not the only one.

Well, here’s a solution to this common problem of the lazy person: the Tribest Personal Blender/Coffee Grinder/Smoothie Maker. I’m not kidding. That’s its proper title, and marketing decisions aside, I’m all for this little appliance as I’m all for most all-in-ones. Plus, I love that the top is actually a cup. Convenient!

Hamilton Beach Electrics Sea Breeze All-Metal Blender, $94.99(was $115)

I’m a sucker for colorful kitchen appliances, which probably doesn’t surprise you if you’re a regular to this blog. Accordingly, I love this blender by Hamilton Beach, a brand that’s never given me any trouble, because it has a South Beach feel to it with it’s pastel hue. It has a 500 watt motor, too, which means it won’t overheat if your friends start begging for blended margaritas…or virgin daiquiris. And it’s under $100!
