Style and Comfort: Bedding for Every Season

Your bed is your nest. To avoid rhyming: it’s where you rest your body after a long day of stress, or boredom, or unanticipated conflicts. Your bed isn’t always your haven away from the bad; sometimes it’s where you cuddle with loved ones, or close your eyes after a happy and life-changing day. In between the ups and downs of life, our bodies and minds need a place to regroup and recharge. Building the perfect, comfortable, heartwarming bed takes investment, but you can do it by following a few selections.

1. Your bed is not a static element. As the seasons change, you are going to need to change the layers and landscape of your bed. You want your bedding colors to be bright and diverse at all seasons, but the layers are going to change. For winter, you are going to want at least a sheet, a fleece layer, and a down comforter, depending on how warm you like to sleep. During the summer, you may only need a sheet, but sometimes, a light airy quilt or thin blanket will make you feel secure.

2. Thread counts: have to love them. Not to be a snob, but thread counts are important for a soft and luxurious feel. The higher the thread count, the higher the expense, so often people skimp on this in order to buy a super comforter. Lousy choice: the sheet goes right against your skin, and that feeling can either be scratchy or heavenly. The down comforter, mediated by the sheets and fleece and lighter blankets, is only a heat trap and extra weight:you can get that from a sleeping bag.

The right pillows in your living room or bedroom can add illuminating accents that create a more luxurious and elegant atmosphere.

You can’t go wrong with earthy tones. This pillow from Pier 1 is around $30 and has a lot of detail in its flower embroidery. It’s also very colorful, which adds to the aesthetic appeal. It’s a bit pricey but you’ll get a very unique look for your living space. I could see this placed on top of a classic, white couch. It adds an unusual and vintage charm to your living room.

My Neck Hurts – Shop for Neck Pillow Support

Honestly I have been waking up with an ache in my neck that you wouldn’t believe, I feel like I must contort into a pretzel or something in my sleep to be so sore in the mornings. Maybe I punch myself in the neck while I dream?

Well until I install security cameras into my bedroom so I can review my sleep habits I guess this mystery will go unsolved. What I can do to ease the stress in the meantime is find better neck support.

The colder it gets the harder it is to crawl out of bed. Seriously, every time my alarm goes off in the morning I die a little inside. What kind of world do we live in that would make our beds so comfortable and the floor so cold and uninviting?

I am a notorious pillow hound, meaning my bed is literally buried beneath a mound of pillows. I have two body pillows, two standard pillows and two goose down pillows, plus two decorative pillows that I pull off the bed before I sleep. That’s eight pillows folks!

There is a method to my madness, the two black body pillows form a barrier from the edge of my bed, and depending on the level of support I feel I need after a days work, I alternate between the standard pillows and the goose down ones for my head. Which leaves the assortment of other pillows for hugging and spooning, Haha.

I think its time I replace the pair of standard pillows I have, they are getting pretty nappy and have served their life’s work.

When I first get to work I am chipper, lively and still have that gleam of happiness in my eyes. Of course as the day progresses, my life force is slowly drained from my body and I become more and more hunched over at my desk .
