This OFFI Kip bed is perfect for a kid.  It’s low to the ground and the rounded edges are a heck of a lot safer than the sharp edges of some beds. Ouch! The twin size is now $749 (was $899) and the full is $899 (was $999).

    Sporty Recycled Furniture

Skateboarding is not a crime, and I’m not sure it should influence furniture design either. Well, not for adults anyway. But, alas, I don’t make such decisions. To the right is the Skateboard Table/Seat ($208.99) by Ski Chair. The good thing is that the top is made with recycled skateboards, and the bottom is made from recycled plastic. I can certainly get behind that, especially in a kid’s room, which is where something like this belongs anyway.

These are also made by Ski Chair, if you’re so inclined:

Andy Warhol as Kid’s Room Decor

I think it’s always great to spark a child’s interest in art early on, and I think the pop art of Andy Warhol is a fun way to do this. There are plenty of Warhol works of animals and toys that are totally kid-appropriate and would make for a colorful and original decor scheme in a child’s room. Not to mention, many Warhol posters and prints can be purchase for a reasonable price. For instance, the “Four Pandas” poster pictured above is about $44, and as long as you choose something simple, framing shouldn’t be too much–go for a metal frame in a color that exists in the print.

Here are some other Warhol’s to consider for your little one:

    Formula 1 Car W196 R, $44

    Portrait of Maurice, $27.99

    Golden Sam, $9.99

    School Deal: Kid’s Locker Dresser

Just in time for the school bells that are raring to ring, ring, ring, this 8-drawer locker dresser is on sale at Overstock.com.  It was originally an astounding $1, 047.50, but now it’s a doable $399.95.

Aside from how cute and colorful it is, the quality is what I’m excited about. Remember the way those school lockers would stand up to the shenanigans and abuse of kids year after year–the slamming, the stuffing, the throwing of nerds inside?  Well, I’m thinking this metal piece of furniture will have the same sturdy resilience.

    Let’s hope.

    Loft Beds for Kids

Mission Youth Loft Bed, $1, 569

Loft beds are a fantastic way to save space in a kid’s room, and they’re so fun because the bed portion is so high off the ground. Usually built with a bed, desk and dresser drawers, this all-in-one provides a child more room to move and play. Not to mention, it gives a small space a neat appearance.

A kid’s room that’s fun and organized? Loft beds are downright miracle workers. I think I might want one!

    Decorative Knobs

I’m a proponent of the quick fix–I love to find ways to make things in the home look better pronto. One little trick I’ve learned is that new knobs are an easy way to give your cabinets and drawers a makeover that won’t take all day. Bathrooms and kitchens are prime locations for new knobs, but linen closets and kid’s rooms might be begging for new duds, too.

    Here’s what I found:

    Animal Bookends
    Animal Bookends, $31.95

Every child’s bedroom needs a healthy supply of books, and where there are books, there should most definitely be bookends. And they should be charming. These giraffe bookends from Wrapables.com are just that. I love the simple shape and the way the base contrasts with the yellow of the giraffe.

But these aren’t the only bookends in town, there are plenty out there with that old-fashioned look that works so well in a kid’s room. I also spotted these on my search:

    Butterfly bookends

    Butterfly Bookends, $29.98 (was $49.99)
    Cowboy Boot Bookends
Lite Source Western Cowboy Boot Bookends, $46 (was $64)
