Save money on a box spring & splurge on a high quality platform bed!  I love platform beds because they are unique, you don’t have to hear the annoying springs when you get out of bed & feng shui experts highly recommend them.  Here are some of my favorites found at OneWayFurniture.com:

Modloft Monroe Platform Bed with Side Lights

Modloft Monroe Platform Bed with Side Lights: $2,779.00

I love the fact that this bed set will save space as the end tables are built into the bed frame.  The built in lights are pretty awesome too.

    OneWayFurniture

    Kyoto Wooden Platform Bed: $929.00

I love Japanese style…anything so this simple platform bed is right up my alley.  The headboard has a unique design that sort of looks like a Japanese screen.

Hilsdale Hawthorn Leather Platform Bed Zoom.

Hawthorn Bed - Leather Platform Bed: $1,059.00

I love this sleek black leather platform bed.  The black color allows you to be free to change your bedroom decor as often as your mood changes. :)

Inc. 500 ranked OneWayFurniture.com one of the fastest growing furniture companies in the US so you know you are buying from very reputable company.  They carry just about every type of furniture you need for every room from bar stools to bedding.  What’s also great is that they offer a “120 Day Low Price Guarantee” on all furniture & they have a reward points program too!  Plus, you will get an instant coupon with every purchase.  Pretty cool.

    Square Dinnerware

I attended a wedding shower this weekend and the bride-to-be received the cutest square dinnerware set! Not sure exactly where the gift giver got them, but it enticed me to look for some other square dinnerware styles. Here are some of my favorites:

    Price: $89.99 for 16pc Set

Kowa Dinner Set - Oneida.com: This set is my FAVORITE! I love the square bowls. The shiny black color, and the style of the dinnerware is super DRAMATIC.

    Price: $24.99 - $49.99
Whittier Collection - Target.com: I’m pretty sure this is the set that the bride-to-be received, or pretty close to it. The pure white color is great for presentation because it makes any food on the plate POP out. This collection of dinnerware also has square blows and square saucers.

    Price: $26.00 for a set of 4

Floral Square Salad Plates - WestElm.com: These are super cute and I wish they came in other colors (like black & white).

    Price: $29.99 - Set of 4

Terra Toscana Appetizer Plates - Target.com: These have an Italian look, and I love the colors. Click here to see more items in this collection.

    Price: $14.50 for one plate

Palamino Blue Square Accent Plate - HomeClick.com: This is an accent plate, which comes with a set of other flatware. I personally love the blue/aqua-ish color and the ridget design on the plate.
    Price: $19.96 for a set of 4

Blue Blossom Square Plate Set of 4 - WorldMarket.com: These plates look very vintage and have a refreshing blue color. I imagine eating sushi off these plates with tea from a cute similar style Japanese tea set.

Blue and other colors in the blue “family” are some of my favorite colors. I’ve heard that blue dinnerware and flatware are suppose to suppress your appetite. So, if you are trying to control your weight, blue plates might be a good idea so you don’t overindulge. I found some information about that here.

    Papasan Chair: “Nest Chair”

While living in my apartment in college, I needed a cute and casual chair for my living room. This Papasan Chair was perfect.

    Chair - $49.99 & Stool - $14.99

Although only one person can (or should) sit on this chair at one time, it is perfect for lounging, napping, or curling up with a good book. I call this chair my “nest chair” because, to me, that is exactly what it looks like. A bird’s nest. It is so comfortable, and you sink right in when you sit down. The cool thing about it is when you get sick of the color cushion you bought, or the fabric is getting kind of dingy, you can simply replace it with a fitted sheet or any other material. You can match your color scheme or use a contrasting color to make it stand out in the room.

What I really wish I bought back then was this double papasan chair.

Lone Star Trading Company - $249.00

It fits at least two people, and it looks like it can hold a friend who needs to crash at your place. And if they can’t fit comfortably across the chair, they can easily remove the cushion and place it on the floor. Beats sleeping on a hard surface.

Not too keen on the wooden frame? Here is a papasan chair with a metal frame.
    Stacks & Stacks - $120.00

    Flask: 21st Birthday Gift Idea

Posted August 13, 2007 by evette

You’re friend is turning 21 soon. They (and you) have been waiting for this since they were old enough to realize that when you are 21, you can gamble in Vegas and have a cocktail with dinner when and where you please. So, what do you get your friend to celebrate their VERY FIRST sip of alcohol? Of course, a shot of tequila, but what else? I suggest a flask. Flasks might seem kind of tacky and might remind you of an old crazy man who spikes the punch at weddings or other special gatherings. But, the right flask will be a cute and much appreciated gift.

I received a flask on my 21st birthday. Two of my friends pitched in and got me a classy little engraved flask from Things Remembered. It was a really cool gift that I will always remember, mainly because they engraved “Happy Birthday Evette”on the front. On the back they engraved my date of birth and the year I turned 21. The flask is cute and stylish enough that even if I didn’t want to use it for its purpose, I can display it like picture frame on my end table, shelf , or entertainment center.

Here are some flasks I like:

Ultra Slim Hip Flask - $17.99

This flask seems cool and flat enough to slip in your back pocket like you would with your Razor phone. It is silver, sleek, and, according to Home Wet Bar.com, this is “the most compact flask on the market.”
Ladies Only Pink Leather Flask - $20.00

This is great for your most girly friend or as a gift for your friend’s bachelorette party. Not a huge fan of pink? This comes in black leather as well.

Cork Pops Portside Flask - $27.50

This one is pretty unique looking. It kind of reminds me of a perfume bottle.

    Picture Flask - $14.99

It’s a flask and a picture frame in one!

Also, filling the flask with your friend’s drink of choice, I’m sure, would be greatly appreciated. :)

    Trendy Butane Lighters

Posted August 10, 2007 by evette

If you insist on chain smoking, why not do it with style?Or if you like to light those yummy smelling candles in your living room, why not compliment that new coffee table with a trendy looking lighter? They are much nicer looking than those cheap plastic ones and, often times, last much longer because you can simply refill them with your extra butane. Also, butane lighters have cool blue or green flames and are wind resistant, which is awesome. Both smokers and candle lovers can agree that when that cheap plastic lighter runs out or won’t work, you want to chuck that thing across the room (and sometimes do)!

Here are some sleek styles found on Smarter.com:

    Lotus L13 Torch Flame Lighter - $29.95

Lotus Torch Flame Lighter Satin Chrome/Polished Chrome - $89.90

Hammerhead Dual Purpose Lighter - $50

Xikar Exodus Lighter - Gun Metal - $49.99

Most of these styles come in different colors. If any of these lighters disappoint you for any reason, I wouldn’t recommend chucking these across the room. You’re sure to crack your TV screen, put a hole in your wall, or give your friend a serious concussion. Oops! For more trendy lighters, go to eLighers.com.
