Halloween Treats & Recipe: Penicillin Pizza

By this time of the Halloween season, I am sick of candy. You’ve spent the last two weeks cooking everything fromhomemade candy corn to buying bag after bag of candy for the trick-or-treaters. You’re big party is only a week or so away and its time to shift the focus from confections to more meat and potato food.

Lets face it. Your guests can’t survive on candy, but that’s no reason why you can’t have some Halloween themed appetizers to pass around. I have delved into my chest of recipes and found an easy treats that will satisfy without causing a sugar coma.

Moldy Pizza

I know, you about gagged didn’t you. Don’t worry, it’s not really mold, it should just looks like it.

Ingredients: English muffins, mozzarella cheese, your favorite pizza toppings, pizza sauce, parmesan cheese and food coloring.

Preheat your oven to about 375. Cut the English muffins into halves and place them on a cookie sheet. Top them with pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and your favorite toppings and stick it in the oven for about 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and begins to brown.

Right now, you’re saying, “Brock, these are just English muffin pizzas. There is nothing Halloweeny about them you rapscallion.” Let me assure you, we are not done yet and why are you using 18th century terminology. It’s creepy.

OK, so now you have your little mini pizzas all ready. Take the parmesan cheese and place it into a bowl. Take some green, red and yellow food coloring and combine them until the cheese is a lovely shade of mold green. You can even separate the cheese and make few shades if you want to go the extra mile.

Add the parmesan cheese to the mini pizzas and you should have a moldy treat that good enough to eat.

Don’t think I am done yet folks, Halloween isn’t here yet and I still have plenty of tricks up my sleeve that will give you a chill or should I say chili? Foreshadow much, I think so.
