Halloween Recipe: Ghoulish Eye Balls

Halloween wouldn’t be complete without some spooky food perfect for handing out to trick-or-treaters or to feed the ghouls and ghosts at a Halloween party. Here is a tried and true recipe that will be sure to creep out the kiddies and yet still bring a smile to their faces.

Jell-O Mold Body Parts

Jell-O Body Parts are by far the easiest treats to make because you can buy molds for everything from brains to spiders. For the most part, you can get away with simply filling the molds with the Jell-O mixture and letting them set in the refrigerator, but if you are feeling a little inspired her is the perfect recipe of Jell-O eyeballs.

You will need a small box of lemon Jell-O, one cup of hot water, ½ of miniature marshmallows, one cup of pineapple juice and one small canister of cream cheese.

Using a double boiler, dissolve the Jell-O in the water and add marshmallows until everything is melted and then remove from heat. It’s time to add the pineapple juice and cream cheese and mix everything until it’s nice and blended. Pour the mixture into a bowl and put into the refrigerator to set. If the mixture doesn’t set very well, you can add an additional package of Jell-O.

When it has finally set, you should have a bowel of tasty white goo. Break out the melon baller and begin making full balls and setting them aside. These are your eyeballs.

Purchase a small detail paintbrush and mix up a small bowel of black food coloring and other colors that you want. Paint on the pupil and iris using the paintbrush and your eyeball is complete. If you want to go the extra mile, use red food coloring to make red veins in the eyeballs.

This is my favorite dish for the holiday and as Halloween gets closer, expect to see many more recipes, many more treats, appetizers and main dishes.
