With the release of the new 3G iPhone just under two weeks away (July 11), the only thing left for AT&T to announce is how much money they are going to suck out of us with their new rates and service plans.

Well, the wait is over, as AT&T finally announced their price plans today. To recap, new customers and those eligible for an upgrade will be able to pick up the 8 GB iPhone for $199 or the 16 GB for $299, while “early upgraders” will have to fork over $399 or $499 plus an $18 upgrade fee, with all phones coming with a two year contract.

By now you’ve heard all the news about the next generation iPhone. We know that it is going to be available to all of us here in the states on July 11 and we know it’s going to be substantially cheaper. (The 8 GB 3G iPhone is going to start at $199).

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’ve been waiting for this news about the 3G iPhone for quite some time. I’ve been craving this new phone for God knows how long, not only because a) I need to feed my inner impulse shopping desire and b) my Blackberry has seen it’s final days and I’m in desperate need of a new cell phone.

So without further ado, the launch date of the new 3G iPhone has been confirmed and will be introduced on June 9th at the WWDC Keynote and is believed to be available for sale right after. Although the source is supposedly some “very, very close” to the launch, getting the news from someone “very, very close” to Apple is better than anything.

So now, I’m just counting the days till I get to spend my savings on the new iPhone. Lets just hope they don’t jack up the price.
