Metallic Sneakers: Latest Inspiration from Michelle Obama

First Lady Michelle has done it again! She caused a fashion uproar as she bedazzled last week by wearing a pair of gorgeous metallic sneakers to infuse life and personality into an otherwise mundane outfit of capri pants and J Crew cardigan.

Don’t you just love this metallic trend in sneakers?  It’s perfect for us girls who like to dress comfortable or run around a lot yet not want to look fuddy-duddy in a dirty lackluster regular old pair of trainers. And because they are dressier, you can get away with wearing them with skirts and dresses which you will usually never dream of with the regular ones.  Michelle’s Lanvin suede shoes that retails for $540 is a silver number with just the right amount of metallic pink at the tip to spice it up .  The price is pretty steep but who says we bargain snoops cannot come up with cheaper, equally fierce alternatives to jazz up our wardrobe?

                                                     Alexander McQueen

Rumor has it that designer Alexander McQueen is about to launch a collection at a Target near you. Now you can have affordable designer like pieces hanging out of your closet. I am still having trouble adjusting to the idea, but none the less I am very excited!

McQueen has another line called McQ. Its diffusion is more affordable than his other collection, but now his clothing will be tangeable for everyone. And yes, he already does collaborations with Puma and Samsonite, but real talk- if we’re going to own McQueen, we want to see it (like I said before) hanging in our closet. We don’t need McQueen sneakers because we already have Pumas, and we don’t need expensive luggage that is just going to get dinged up anyway. We need McQueen on our bodies and we need it now!  Let’s hope that the retailer, in keeping with a designer of such caliber, gets materials worthy of his work so they are long lasting. Until then, say a prayer to make this rumor come true.

Stay tuned! I will let you know when the line launches, and it will in the near future!

Before being environmentally sensitive was as hip as Blue Ribbon drink specials, Designer Rogan Gregory was working with classic & comfortable clothes with an eco-friendly bend. This spring, he partners with Target’s Go International to release a collection. you’ll find many bright colors here. Gregory sticks to his signature neutral palette, touched here and there with animal prints, like a zebra patterned mini skirt, a turquoise leopard swimsuit and a shirtdress with giraffe spots. The overall look for the collection is safari-like meets Charlotte.

    Isaac Mizrahi Leaves Target

Isaac Mizrahi is leaving Target to work his magic at Liz Claiborne, which could definitely use a boost. Mizrahi’s hugely successful, five-year stint creating fashionable and affordable work and casual wear for Target shoppers will come to an end later this year. He will become the creative director at Liz Claiborne beginning Spring of 2009.

Interestingly, the recent death of the company’s namesake founder was a big reason for the change says CEO, William L. MCComb:

Liz Claiborne is an extremely well-known, well-regarded brand that failed to deliver on the core values that made it great in the first place: color, fit, value and style. The turning point was when Liz Claiborne died , and we got lots of calls and letters from consumers who didn’t know she hadn’t been working here since 1989.

The hope is that the designer can breathe some much needed life and color into the ailing brand, which has suffered profit loss and a substantial drop off in popularity since the 1990s. The goal will be to create higher quality clothing and lots of excitement around the Liz Claiborne name. Of course, Mizrahi’s charisma will play a major part in the plan with in-store appearances and runway shows as part of the blueprint.

    Poor Target.

    Libertine for Target

The new Libertine line comes to Target on July 15–just 3 days from now! And let me tell you: I want that black and white dress, and I will have my clicking finger ready to nab it when the time comes. The collection for the GO line has some cute finds besides the dress, like a blue trench with contrasting white stitching and buttons, A-line skirts (why aren’t there more of those around for goodness sakes?) and some snazzy blazers. Oh, please let them be as cute in person!
