Sex and the City the Sequel: 80s Flashback

Posted September 17, 2009 by ritika

The NY Fashion Week runway isn’t the only place you can find hints of neon, bright 80s trend.

The upcoming Sex and the City sequel contains scenes of flashback that take the women who are now in their 40s-50s back to their youthful prime. This might alone save the makeup industry from this recession–the crew will have to use gallons of a LOT of product to pull this off.

I absolutely loved the first Sex and the City and thought that the fashion and style in Carrie & Big’s wedding was remarkable.

But here’s a sneak peek of their rendition of what the girls looked like in their 20’s:

Can we all just look at her hair for a second…and who wears tennis shoes with a suit?

It’s a cute concept–taking them back to the first years of their dating days. But, it’s also kind of saddening. The idea that they’ve spent two decades running around trying to find love. Now, *spoiler alert* apparently Big & Carrie might be having problems because the camera crew has been filming at Carrie’s NY apartment a lot lately.

If this story doesn’t have a happy ending–all of this is going to be over kill.

    Find That Look: Starry Skies

I’m a huge fan of “The Look for Less” articles that take outrageous runway fashions (and prices) and make them reachable for the common shopper or mall crawler. I always wished, though, that writers would do it with something other than just the runway, like movie stills or posters, television shows, actors and actresses on their days off, etc. There’s so many more looks to aspire to than the levels of excess at the runway! What better place to start than the mother of all stiletto and sequins addictions, Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City?

Carrie’s fashion, throughout the television series, at times offended me by the excess of sequins, tweed, knits, bows and ribbons (it was a bit too runway for me) but the poster to the Sex and the City: The Movie was positively tantalizing. Sharp, sultry, sassy…there’s no better look to go for.

Standout blue dress, never to be outdone by it’s competitors. Perfect for a night at a trendy restaurant: Betsey Johnson, $325.00 (Also, comes in black here)

A faceted oval gem necklace will add a little glitz to your look, but not take away from the dress: Express, $19.50

Grab a pair of fishnet stockings to add a hard edge to your girlie chic dress: Galapagos Boutique, $14.00

Don’t forget your favorite blue eyeshadow, and you’re good to go!  Carrie would be proud to see you strut your stuff.

They’ve come a long way, baby!

Ladies, today is the day!  Not sure how you all are celebrating this fabulous occasion, but I will be attending a Sex & the City: The Movie premiere party tomorrowThe proceeds will go to breast cancer research.  I’ve heard of & read about many other great premiere parties happening this weekend:

    • A party in Kansas City will be sponsored by Passion Parties, FIMB Yoga & Wellness Center in Lee’s SummitThe proceeds will go to the cancer charity Bright Pink.
    • There will be a Cosmos and Champagne for Charity party benefiting the Diabetes Foundation in South Florida
    • In Santa Rosa, CA there is a party at Rialto Cinemas Lakeside where attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character!  I have a feeling fanatics will dress up regardless if the party they are attending encourages it. :)

Sex and the City The Movie

Something interesting I saw on AskMen.com that you may already know aboutVictoria Beckham turned down a cameo in the movie!?  WHY!?

Speaking of men, if any men are reading this you should attend one of these parties.  I’m not telling you to go watch the movie, which I know may be torturous for some, but I don’t know of one chick that will NOT be attending some sort of Sex & the City: The Movie party.  So, go ahead and go to a party, but leave the cheesy lines at home…okay?

Speaking of the men & the movie, all I can say is if John, A.K.A. Big, mucks things up again and isn’t sure if Carrie’s “the one” at the end of the movie.  I’ll be pretty…peeved.

    How will you be celebrating?

What’s the weirdest Sex & the City party idea you’ve heard of?

If you decide to stay home and avoid the crazy crowds at the box office this weekend click here for instructions on how to make a cosmopolitan.  You and your friends can drink & eat while watching Sex & the City seasons to refresh your memory before you watch the movie NEXT weekend!

Kind of brings a little tear to my eye.  Yes, I know they are only made up characters, but I’m glad they did this to promote the Sex and the City: The MovieThey look so happy!  Not sure about the one that looks like they are about to make a sex tape though.  :)

    Nicole Miller Charmeuse Dress.

This Nicole Miller Charmeuse Dress reminds me of a dress Carrie on Sex & the City wore on the episode “The Big Time”  where she is stranded on a yacht with Bigand Charlotte was just beginning to date Trey.  Sorry, I couldn’t find a picture.  She wore it with some fancy gold jewelry & a super cute clutch.  I really love the blue color & it’s at such a great price right now.

Nicole Miller Charmeuse Dress: $300.99 (Was: $430)

Would You Buy Sex and the City Underwear?

Die hard Sex and the City fans will now have a new way to prove their undying love for Bradshaw and the crew: underwear! It’s true, lingerie makers Cosabella has struck a deal to license lingerie inspired by Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha to add to the hoopla of the much anticipated spring release of the SATC movie.

There will be four separate groups in the line, representing each character’s personality. One can only imagine what the Samantha collection will entail.

The line will be available in April.
