Before she was rocking Dior and Louis V on the red carpet, Gwen Stefani made her own clothes. Fortunately for us, she kept sketching and transformed her own style—everything from street wear to Ready-to-wear. For those who don’t know, she now carries her line, L.A.M.B. (or “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.”) Unlike her neighbor celebrity designers, J. Lo and P.Diddy, Stefani waited awhile before exposing her first runway collection which consisted of cashmere cardigans, Rasta-style tracksuits (as shown below) and cocktail dresses.

Widely known as a popular singer, the former lead singer of No Doubt, Mrs. Gavin Rossdale, and Jean Harlow’s mother, Stefani has made a name for herself as a designer as well as a fashion plate. Though reviews of her latest collections have been anything but great, Stefani is still in demand regardless of what some say.

Alas…summer is officially approaching, but it’s really no fun unless you sport some black and white gingham.

This week’s inspiration was from the L.A.M.B. Spring 2008 runway show. Gwen stuck to pretty dark colors for this collection, and one can almost mistake it for a fall line, but she did slip in a few summery pieces like this adorable mini dress.

My picks below should do the trick, and the crimson red lipstick pays homage to Ms. Stefani herself.

Carrie Underwood was one of the celebs seated front row at the L.A.M.B. show last week. She showed her support for Gwen’s fashion endeavor with a cute striped cardigan from the line.  If you love it, it can be yours.  Just make sure you buy the right size because Carrie’s seems a little loose and, therefore, none too flattering.

Fashion Week is on, and day one is over. What I love so far is the emphasis on the waist mainly because that’s my best feature, and women like me deserve a little reprieve after the hip-focused multi-year fashion phase we’ve had to endure. Sheesh. I also love the sleeves-with-interest trend that’s happening, which we saw a little of last year–now it’s really booming.

Anyway, Rude Girl style and 80’s Mod revival were in full effect: blazers, sweater vest, braces, ties, skinny pants, plaid, pleated skirts, trouser shorts, double-breasted jackets, high-waisted shorts, black and white, and knee socks:
