    Designer Inspired Look: Nina Ricci

Nina Ricci Resort 2009Aside from the bony, angry-looking model…I love this Nina Ricci Resort 2009 look.

This look is achievable in every which way, the floral chemise will probably be the easiest to find, and I love the matching shoes and skinny belt in burnt orange. My work and I will soon be migrating to a swanky new office in a bourgeois part of town, and I’ve been struggling with the question: what’s appropriate to wear?

My wardrobe has undergone so many drastic changes in the past few years, but “office wear” was never of importance to me; this is because it can be challenging (for me at least) finding professional work clothes that aren’t drab and predictable.

This look my friends is exactly what I’ve been imagining, something simple yet feminine, stylish but not overdone.

    Trend Alert: Color Blocking

Posted July 18, 2007 by valentina

Anyone who knows me, knows that color is my thing. I love interesting color combinations and what the right distribution of hues can do to flatter a figure. So it’s no wonder I’m in love with the color blocking trend that’s happening, especially when it comes to dresses.

If you’re going to get in on the trend, a good rule of thumb is to wear the most eye-catching colors on the body parts that you want to bring attention to. For instance, if your arms are your best feature, pick a piece that has the lightest colors on top, and if you’re not crazy about your hips, don’t wear a big white stripe across them. Comprende?

Here are some of my favorites of late:
black and white dress Alice + Olivia ‘Colorblock Shift Dress’, $245

yellow white and black dress Chloe ‘Tricolor Crinkle Dress’, $495

grey, red, yellow and brown dress Forever 21 ‘Knit Tube Dress’, $17.80

white beige and black dress Robert Rodriguez ‘Color Block Pleated Dress’, $473
