Here’s the latest from Fashion Week Fall 08:

Betsey Johnson was her classic self, with an over-the-top, but still pretty wearable collection. I loved everything about it, from the beatnik theme to the sampling of every decade since Kerouac and the beat ruled the underground. Check it out!

At Marc by Marc Jacobs, punky plaid, zipper details and voluminous collars were on display. Bows, sequins and….are those pantaloons I see?

I’ve always been told that I shouldn’t play The Sims because I’d get too obsessed, but it’s tempting to start now that they’ve partnered up with H&M. I think they know this, and in an attempt to further snag potential die-hards like me, they brewed up this contest where you create outfits for a variety of themed Sims/H&M fashion shows. The themes have names like “Party Time” and “Skate Park,” which is what this vested animatron to the right is all dolled up for. She would not get past Miss Jay and Tyra with that thumbs up stance.

You can’t submit outfits anymore, but you can still vote. At least one of the top designs will actually be  manufactured by H&M.

The Calvin Klein Resort 08 runway was a big surprise. Normally, CK puts out loads of neutrals that tend to bore the bejeezus out of me, but not so this time with Francisco Costa at the helm of the collection. I’m a total color fanatic, and I’m in love with the use of fuchsia, crimson, and seafoam green mixed with white and gray. The shapes were slim for the most part and characteristically simple, but volume made a showing in the form of a three-quarter sleeve zip-up jacket and a fantastic two-tone dress.
