Miley and Britney Fashion: A Little Too Close for Comfort
After collabora
ting with Max Azria, Miley Cyrus is in the middle of launching her new line of clothing, which is soon to be sold in Walmart stores. A sneak peek of the designs are available online and overall (and pictured at the right), and consist of fun plaids, lengthy t-shirts, and skinny jeans. The clothes seem to be a cute blend of wholesome early-teen appropriate and affordable fashion.
When her line first came out, she told People magazine, “I wanted to finally make something that was for girls my age. Something me and my friends would wear.”
What I would like to know, is what happened to Miley between the time she gave her interview to People and last night’s Teen Choice Awards. In case any of you missed it, Miley arrived to the award show wearing a black-ssequined super mini skirt. Definitely not age appropriate.
Her chains and necklaces galore just don’t look
classy at all.
To top it all off, Miley came out of her shell and did a little pole dancing during her performance of her new song “Party in the USA.” She was wearing dangerously black short shorts. Now, I understand that Miley is turning 17 this year.

And of course, this little incident brought about a lot of controversy about Miley. She had to have known this was going to happen. A lot of people are speculating that this is Miley’s way of stating that this child star is growing up–she can’t be our Disney kid star forever. Yeah, yeah, this isn’t any new phenomenon. It’s actually a very consistent pattern among young child female stars.
But does growing up necessarily equate shorter shorts and pole dancing? Dressing more mature doesn’t necessarily mean you have to wear less clothes. It just seems really odd that she’s unleashing her teenage clothing line that would probably never violate the Jr. high dress code–but then showing up to the Teen Award Show wearing something Britney Spears would wear.
In fact, I think that Miley’s outfit was only inches away from Britney’s ridiculously black-sequined mini dress. We all know that Britney’s trying to make a come back with her Circus tour, but her dress at last night’s Teen Choice Awards was less than classy. It just looks like she’s just not wearing enough clothing. The similarity between Britney’s mini dress and Miley’s mini skirt is a little unsettling. I’m really confused with this satin strap that’s going across Britney’s shoulder and down her dress. Either way, Britney was in the same position as Miley shortly after her “Oops I Did it Again” years–she wanted to show the world that she isn’t a child star. There’s gotta be a better solution…

Averil Levigne goes as a…..?
Paris Hilton goes as a “sexy” Alice in Wonderland, which seems a tad inappropriate considering Alice is suppose to be a child! Leave it to Paris.
