So PETA really, really doesn’t like the Olsen twins and their wardrobe decisions. The animal rights group known for their zealous protests made their distaste very clear this week when they unveiled their Meet the Trollsens website. The whole site is dedicated to chastising Hairy-Kate and Trashley Trollsen (as they call them) for wearing fur.

The site has a lot of features, including a section where you can dress the twins up in bloody fur jackets, dresses, purses, and hats. You can also send the Olsens a letter, urging them to stop wearing fur and selling it in their clothing line The Row. And if that’s not enough for you, there’s also a myspace dedicated to the Trollsens. Pretty intense.

Oh my. I don’t know what to say about this. I personally don’t wear fur, but I’m not officially against it since I wear leather and eat meat on a daily basis. However, I do sympathize with PETA’s cause and marvel at their publicity machine.

More than anything, I think the whole thing is kind of funny, and I bet the Olsens think it is too. What do you think?

I present to you this year’s Icky Halloween Costume Hall of Shame:

Britney Spears goes as a”sexy” wench.

Aubrey O’Day goes as a “sexy” football player in clear heels.

Averil Levigne goes as a…..?

Paris Hilton goes as a “sexy” Alice in Wonderland, which seems a tad inappropriate considering Alice is suppose to be a child! Leave it to Paris.

Dennis Rodman as a poorly dressed woman.

So, not only did Marc Jacobs show up 2 hours late to his show this week, but he also presented his audience with some pretty wacky stuff–wacky even for high fashion. It left some people, like Victoria Beckham for instance, pretty confused:

Oh, just look at her, poor Posh is beside herself. And that was just the first look, which was a black dress ornamented with silly string appliqué. Imagine how she felt when she got wind of these accessories:

This purse looks dangerous. I can see myself tripping over those multi-colored strings and causing serious damage. Not that I would carry it in the first place.

Talk about killer heels. These look more life-threatening than the handbag above. The last thing women need is a heel that’s harder to walk in. The backwards heel is just silly, and the other one looks like a recipe for disaster. If you trip in that thing, you will die a catapulting death.
Now, the best thing about this hairband (?) is the Goody metal barrette attached to it. Wow.

It wasn’t all bad though, there were definitely some gems in the bunch, which you can see on Style.com.

Our Smarter Gadget writer, Nick, just turned me onto Joo Youn Paek’s inflatable dress. Well, really, it’s a dress/chair. Why does the “Self-Sustainable Chair” exist, you ask? The designer created the piece to break the monotony of plain old walking, preferring the varied experience this dress offers as it inflates and deflates with the help of air pumps attached to the shoes. The result is that the dress transforms into a chair, forcing the wearer to sit mid-walk. In turn, the act of sitting deflates the 7 garbage bags that the garment is made of.

In Joo Youn Paek’s own words:

The balance between exercise and rest would be maintained by wearing this suit. The purpose of this project is to transform the humdrum experiences produced by routine walking commutes into an amusing interactive performance.

I say, fair enough. The dress showed yesterday at Unravel, a “living exhibition of fashion…seeking to redefine the notion of ‘wearable’” staged by Amanda Parks in San Diego.

Other interesting pieces from Unravel:

The A-symmetric YSL Shirt, YSL Bow Purse & Chanel Belt (left) by Katherine Anderson, Sarah Bergenheim, Giana Gonzalez & Jenny Chowdhury. This is part of the Hacking Couture project.

“Peau d’Âne” (middle)by Valérie Lamontagne, Lynn Van Gastel, Patrice Coulombe, David Beaulieu & Brad Todd. The color patterns of this dress change with the 28-day cycles of the moon.

Solar Bikini (bottom left) by Andrew Schneider. This is a solar-powered bikini with a USB connection than can charge your iPod

Ah, art. I love it. If you want to see more innovative fashion check out the Unravel website. And if you’d like to read up on Joon Yoon Peak, click here.

Could it be that we’re about to enter a clear heel stage in fashion? Are we ready for that? I hope not. I pray this is just a glitch–a moment of temporary insanity.

True or False: Kate Moss can pull off anything

Verdict: False

Proof: This ad featuring one Kate Moss and one ridiculous Versace bag.

The good people over at Bag Snob featured this fuzzy blue fox fur handbag this week, hilariously placing it alongside a pic of Grover of Sesame Street fame. The resemblance is uncanny.

Is the fashion house making fun of us with this purse? Do they think we’ll buy anything anointed with the Versace name and Kate Moss’ pout?

And what was going through Kate’s mind as she posed with the fluffy accessory? Bag Snob thinks it was something like this, “I am being paid millions to be photographed with this giant fuzzy mess but you’d be an idiot to actually spend $5,000 for it”

I will say that it looks comfy. As I sit here typing, I have fantasies of laying it on my desk and taking a little nap. But at $4, 710, that would be an expensive nap.

This morning on Denimology, I read about PimpMyJeans. com, a site dedicated to bedazzling denim. At PimpMyJeans, you can send in your own pair or buy new ones from them ($72) and then the customizing begins. They’ll shorten your jeans for you, make them into a skirt, dip them in bleach, stencil them, take an airbrush to them, encrust them with rhinestones, attach ribbons to them, patch them up, stamp them, trim them with feathers, and a myriad of other strange things. Their “Custom Product of the Month” appears to the right. Hmmm.

I have to say that none of that sounds appealing to me, but I know some people will embrace the service, and I applaud PMJ’s entrepreneurial spirit. I am really concerned about the heat transfers, though:

Being Eva Longoria’s close, personal friend has its rewards. For one thing, if you were tight enough with her, you would have spent the weekend in Paris watching her marry Tony Parker. And if you were wedding-party-close, you would have gotten this Rafe Totengco clutch made especially for the occasion:

The designer only made a few of these anthracite water snake and rhinestone handbags– one for each of her ten bridesmaids and one for Eva, of course.

Paris and a snake skin clutch–not a bad weekend.
