Prom Dresses: Twilight’s Inspiring the Looks
High school. Who can forget it? Football games, boys, and the ever-so-climactic school dances. Looking back on when I was a young schoolgirl myself, prom was a pretty big deal. I can remember hunting for the perfect dress, shoes, and bag to make me look dazzling on the big night. The truth is, prom dresses have become pretty darn expensive. And whether you’d like to believe it or not girlies, you’re only going to wear this dress once. Seriously. Either way, it is a special night for many so its important to have yourself all pulled together and get some ideas on trends and popular looks for this season.
Apparently, the film “Twilight” has had a big influence on this year’s prom styles…really?! I must admit…I am a bit jealous! I think it would’ve been kind of fun to dress up like a hot vampire, and it would’ve really broken the ice with a few awkward dates.

These two are cute, but forget about that black lipstick…way too much of a 1994 throwback, yikes. This dress is not quite black and white checkered plaid, but it is a little sweeter looking, with lace trimmed tiers of mesh and a jeweled brooch at the center.

This look might be my favorite…as far as vampire-esque goes.

I can appreciate the lovely pinky-peach dress on her next to his black leather jacket. I know, these images don’t quite depict every high school girls dream dress. In fact I’m beginning to get flashbacks from my old rockabilly days. Let’s take inspiration from the lovely color on this little girl and go from there, besides after a long-running retail stint with former Prom Queen Betsey Johnson, I can’t help but indulge myself a bit.
So, I chose this emerald green dress because I think the color is really stunning, and the one-shoulder has made a comeback as far as dresses go. If you prefer long dresses, this is a lovely choice. I would probably go for something like this, and make it more glamorous by wearing a white magnolia flower on the side of my hair.

This Betsey Johnson Evening All About Eve Tiered Sequin Dress ($425) is one of the designers latest bejeweled treats she’s issued out for the prom gals.

I love the sweetheart neckline and light aqua color of this dress. I also feel like sequins are almost necessary at some point when you’re shopping for a school dance dress, so maybe save up the opportunity to bedazzle yourself at prom in this Evening Moon Dreams Strapless Dress with Sequins, $435, betseyjohnson.com. This dress is so cute, kind of subtle, and what seventeen year old girl doesn’t love hot pink?!

And lastly, if you’re gonna roll big on the dress…opt for something classy, beautiful and perfect like this Robert Rodriguez Rosette Bodice Dress in pure silk ($750). This color and cut is gorgeous.
