It’s happened again. I have found yet one more show that, despite the idiotic antics of the pretty and pretty brainless main characters, I am hooked on….a bit. I am fascinated by the new E! series, “Candy Girls.” Currently, my fave character is Bella (that’s the agency she runs) founder Danielle.

Now here’s the fashion hook. Miss Danielle’s Candy Girls are beautiful, nutty, spoiled brat, hip hop video eye candy, models and dancers. What I love in addition to their supremely selfish antics is their over the top, rock the brights, the big bags, big earrings and big attitude kind of style.

My favorite little style treat I have picked up from the girls is Danielle’s habit of wearing a super sized, super colorful rock on her finger. One tangerine tinted bauble I noticed looks similar to one from Dior’s Incroyables & Merveilleuses collection.

Danielle’s in your face business style and clothing choices are so fresh and fun especially now that spring is here. I am going to dig out my big pink square cut 1930’s rubyť set in gold I scored at the Flea a few years back. I think I could use a little candy.

The ruffle collar on this little number makes it so hot!  The puff sleeves make it so lady-like.  If you check out the multiple views you can see the pretty detail on the top.  Cute strappy heels or bold colored pump would perfect this outfit.

Everywhere I go I see Ed Hardy.  Ed Hardy has  been all the rage for a while.  And you knew something, I like it.  There are t-shirts, hats, handbags and even perfume.  Wow, they’re so artful designed too!!  The only thing: Ed Hardy is pretty pricey.  So, when I came across this hoodie…I was like “discount!!”

I was watching the news this morning and saw a teaser about spring fashions. Apparently gladiator sandals are making a comeback again this spring.

But I have to admit one thing. I just don’t get it.

I mean, there are a few really cute strappy styles with intricate designs and colorful leather work, but these atrocities that crawl up your leg towards your shorts or skirt as if they’re a vine growing out of the ground? Are they really h-o-t?

I admit to being at a loss for words. I mean - are you looking at these pictures?

So today I will refrain from insulting those who do love the shoes I apparently don’t understand and instead I will pose a question to all of my fabulous Smarter Fashion Blog readers. What do you think of gladiator sandals? Are they hot or not? If you love them, tell us why and please do tell me how you choose to wear them (casual, formal, etc). I’m dying to know.

Hello, fashionista’s.  In my never ending search for the latest trends of the season I recently came across a trend that I found very cute:  polka dots.  Everywhere I look there are polka dots on shirts, skirts, bags and even shoes.  I dont know about you but this look brings me back to when I was a little girl.  It reminds me of summer walking on the boardwalk and eating cotton candy.  I do not know why, but polka dots make me smile.  So, when I came across this luggage set I had to laugh.  I think it was my brain  telling me polka dot + luggage = boardwalk which means vacation to somewhere warm..

Well all, I was reading Bazaar the other day and noted an interesting bit of news.  It seems the wealthy curled darlings of the celebrity nation have just discovered a new fashion trend. Wait for it….Wearing an outfit more than once!

Yes, my sarcasm might be a bit overblown here, for it is true that socialites, actors and celeb wanna-be’s do get trashed by the media (and I use that term loosely) if they are photographed in a look that the Paps have seen before. However, in the brave new economic world we are all facing, it seems that even the best and the brightest and the most fashion forward are willing to take a page from the regular gal’s book and reinvent a look.

For example, Jemima Khan (English socialite and a darling of fate and fortune if there ever was one) was seen wearing the same long blue Roland Mouret dress on more than one occasion. She accessorized with a thin black belt on one outing and a wide pink and black one the following month, giving a completely different feel to each wearing.

For those of us who, as the legendary Diana Vreeland used to say, have more dash than cash, this is not exactly a new concept. I would even go so far as to say that we who have to be creative will ultimately develop a more honed and personal style. If you are forced to really re-think that black jacket (belt it, wear it with a thin scarf, pair with the new baggy pants and a tank) instead of just running out and buying whatever is newest, you will learn to wear only the version of a trend that works best for you.

Try these re-thinks on for size: a full skirt from a few years ago with a chunky strappy heel, the new baggy and distressed jeans with the ballet flats from last year, a jumpsuit with an armload of mixed up bracelets from your jewelry box.

Now all of you, and not Eva, Anne, Jemima, or who ever else is the style darling of the moment, will be the one with the most style.
