The Chic Style of Emma Watson

She’s sharp, she’s chic, she’s timeless. Emma Watson is becoming quite the under-stated crush of American fashion. While other girls her age are flashing the paparazzi and drugging out, Emma Watson maintains her charm.

Stand Strong with Precious T Jewels

Hey, I thought I was precious T. Well, inside joke; you can just call me plain ol’ T.  All kidding aside, let’s talk Precious T’s funky urban jewels you can find at TheaIzzi.com.

My first reaction was “hmmmm, tres urban.”  Turns out, that is designer Thea Izzi’s word for it as well. One part 80’s era Madonna, one part modern sculpture, these mixed medium jewels of rubber, metal and semi-precious stones are strong but fun city jewels. Additionally, they pack a style punch without punching a large hole in your wallet.

While not my personal aesthetic, I can easily see a few of the Sorbet¯ rings stacked up, added to the Novios rubber bracelets and worn with Derek Lam’s new for spring, one -shouldered black jumpsuit. Modern, sleek and yes, urban.

    Equestrian Style

This weekend I am fortunate enough to be competing in a college level horse back riding competition. I’m very excited and doubly nervous about the prospect. 6:25 a.m. bus loading to be out in the countryside by 8:00 a.m.? Dreary snow, muddy boots, and stinky horses? Why do I do this again, you might ask? Well for one, it was my childhood dream to compete at an international horse back riding level, and now at least I get to compete at a national one. And two, just because it’s a fashion blog, I’ll admit to my guilty pleasure: The duds are absolutely to die for.

    Exhibit A: the equestrian boot:

Solid Equestrian field boots run from $50-$400. Here’s where you can find replicas at a cheaper price.

AmiClubWear: Knee High Boot, on sale for $12.99

But if you want to get boots that will last forever and come from the boot-making masters, look no further than Frye boots.

    Frye Boots: $398.00

                                                       Gold Jewelry

SheFinds is disappointed in Erickson Beamon. Their jewelry line for Target may be inexpensive, but it doesn’t have to look cheap.

FocusOnStyle.com says denim with a rocker theme never looked more fresh than at the William Rast fashion show- having Justin Timberlake at the helm and love Jessica Biel front row doesn’t hurt either- photos and fashion show review.

These new electronic gadgets keep Girlawhirl powered up and running.

Travel Fashion Necessities: It’s All in the Details

Posted February 19, 2009 by colleen

I just got back from a wonderfully relaxing trip to Montreal for Valentine’s Day. It was cold, just as Weather.com and every single person promised me, but my boyfriend and I enjoyed it to no end nevertheless. We even got in a full day of sightseeing, had a dinner and managed to have enough energy still to spend the night ice skating on a frozen pier on the waterfront! Before we took this little trip, all I could think about was how many layers and jackets I wish I had (besides the ones I already own). While jackets were absolutely necessary, the brute strength and resilience of the jacket was nothing without the necessary scarf to cinch up the top of my fleece, and the belt to pull up my pants and make sure no skin was exposed to the negative degree air. So I say, while thinking broad is a good way to start the travel fashion packing, don’t forget about the little details that are going to make your trip so much more pleasurable, and fashionable.

Item 1: Taking that cruise you always dreamed of? Want to avoid the hawaiian print T-shirt and cotton sundress syndrome? Pack yourself some classy bracelets or this nautical belt by Missoni.

Item 2: Hats are a necessity on any vacation. You’re going to be walking a lot, and you need something to keep the sun off your face and out of your eyes. But of course, you don’t want to be the dumbo in the visor: so keep it cool with the Emilio Pucci floppy sun hat.

Item 3: You need a pair of heels that make you look and feel dressy, but are still manageable in potentially long and uneven walking surfaces. My recommendation: Christian Louboutin’s gorgeous wedge heels.

    The Winter Coat Catastrophe

Posted February 18, 2009 by deborah dera
    Found in: Women's Fashion

So, the zipper on my winter coat completely fell apart this weekend.  First the zipper was jamming and then the teeth started falling out.  It’s February in New Jersey and it’s cold. Really cold. I need to be able to actually zip up my jacket.

Out we went to search for a replacement. Again. I reiterate. It’s now February. It’s winter. Spring won’t “officially” occur until late March and the temps won’t start to warm up until April. We are still mid-winter here, folks.

Of course, a walk through most major department stores would paint a different picture. Winter coat racks had been shoved to the corners of most stores with slim pickings - if there was anything at all. What did I find in their place? Bathing suit racks. Forget spring wardrobe - let’s just skip to summer.

Needless to say, I was a slightly disgruntled shopper. Therefore, I offer these suggestions to anyone who might find herself in need of a winter coat before the weather is warm enough for your lighter jackets (or a bathing suit…grrr…).

The Maxam Mountain Men or Women’s Winter Coat is a hot find. It’s got plenty of insulation to keep you warm and is water resistant - perfect for your next ski trip or the next snowstorm (if we have another)! The jacket can be found in eBay stores for as low as $33.00.

The Mountain Hardwear Downtown Coat is a spectacular choice as well. While this is a more expensive option than the previous, you simply can’t go wrong with a down coat. This one sells for $189.99 at TravelCountry.com.

Last (for now) is the Women’s Early Winters Waterproof Jacket. I love this one because it’s specially designed in both regular and petite sizes, so those of us with shorter statures don’t have to worry about looking like we’re swimming in a coat that is supposed to end hear our hips but actually comes down to our knees. Oh - and the Action Fleece interior will keep you warmer than you ever dared dream! This coat can be found at Sahalie.com on sale for prices ranging form $70 - $100.

Not thrilled about any of these choices? That’s okay. You can search for other women’s winter coats right here on Smarter.com. At least THEY haven’t disabled their winter collections with bikini displays!
