Did Designer Kate Sylvester Go Too Far?
Check out these pictures from Kate Sylvester’s collection at Sydney’s Fashion Week:

News.com.au reports on the apology that was made by Kate Sylvester due to complaints about her collection, one of which came from the national secretary of Australia’s Returned & Services League, Derek Robson. He felt the use of war metals was “appalling & sickening”. His main concern was timing because April 25th is the day when New Zealand & Australia reflect back on the brave memebers of the Australian & New Zealand Army Corps who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey during WWI. So, I can see why this would upset people. Although, I do see what Sylvester was trying to do from a creative standpoint.
Sylvester says she meant no disrespect against the military. This collection is titled “Royally Screwed” and crowns & tiaras were also used. TV3.com.nz reports Sylvester stating about her collection: “It’s called Royally Screwed and is about mad, bad royals, which is quite topical at the moment.”
What do you think about this collection. If a designer from the U.S. did this with U.S. servicemen’s military metals…how would you feel?

The timing definitely makes it seem like it could be a little much. The collection could effect some such as military families etc..

It seems a lot of people don’t know about the protocol regarding wearing medals. At Brisbane’s ANZAC Day march, a lot of people were wearing their faimly members’ medals on the LEFT side, which is wrong. Only those who have served - and awarded those medals - may wear them on the left. Family members and others must wear them on the RIGHT side.

Funny thing about the States, you’re not suppose to wear the flat on or as clothing, unless it’s a little patch. Then there are laws governing that.
So furious about burning the damn thing, but they don’t know what to do with it.

A Royal Techni-Colour Yawn…
Your fashion edge (did I say edge? Silly me) has been there, done that.
Sure Kate, come the raw prawn,
You knew what you were doing!
How about a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T?

Not impressed.I don’t really like the badges and patches. I think sometimes less is more. But what do I know.

Definitely not impressed. The male clothing is hideous to say the least.
