Big Deal: Get 20%-25% off at Bloomingdales

Posted November 29, 2007 by valentina
Found in: Women's Fashion, Handbags, Shoes, Deal of the Day

The deals keep coming this season! The latest is at Bloomingdale’s, where you can get 20% off all purchases up to $299 and 25% if you spend over $300 (until Dec. 4). I always sock away a little money before December just to be able to take advantage of sales like this. Last year, for instance, I got a pair of perfect Marc by Marc Jacobs patent leather pumps for $100 off by combining two discounts.

You can really make your money go far with these deal and treat yourself to something you could never justify paying full price for. Thing like this, for instance:

    Tibi Deco Print Shift ($375- 25%=) $281.00

Marc by Marc Jacobs Turnlock Teri Tote ($428-25%=) $321

Stuart Weitzman Patent Riding Boots, ($525-25%=) $393

Get 20% Off at Lisa Kline

Our friends at Lisa Kline are at it again with the great deals and just in time for the holidays. “Give the Gift of Glam” with this 20% off coupon. Just type in “holiday” at checkout and get the discount on all regularly priced items until Dec. 6.

    Here are my top picks:

    Rich and Skinny’s High-waisted Rs-Lanky Jean

    Melinda Maria Melin Bangle

    British Fashion Awards 2007

The British Fashion Awards came and went last night with Stella McCartney beating out Luella Barton and Anya Hindmarch for Designer of the Year. However, Ms. “I’m Not a Plastic Bag” didn’t go home empty handed, scoring the Designer Brand of the Year honors, while Christopher Kane was named New Designer of the Year.

Grand Dame of Punk, Vivienne Westwood, further cemented her icon status with the Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design award.

Not too surprising was Agyness Deyn being named Model of the Year–that’s a pretty good way to end a rather momentous year of undisputed “it girl” status in the fashion world. Deyn edged out Lily Cole and Irina Lazareanu (Pete Doherty’s gal pal) for the win.

Lily Allen was there, too, looking bright eyed and bushy tailed in this awful dress. Good color, bad everything else. Ah, but she still looks so cute! I am a bona fide sucker for Lily, I admit it.

Dita Von Teese and Kelly Osbourne also showed up, both in Grecian-themed dresses. Results varied.

Handbag Deal: Juicy Couture Bowler Bag

Juicy Couture has made a lot of strides as of late. Before if I heard the brand’s name or saw it plastered across a velour-clad behind, I’d just roll my eyes, but this year they’ve made me reconsider. I like that cute red double-breasted coat that got everyone talking, and I think this bowler bag is luscious. The red and gold mix is sumptuous, no? And the ruching is a nice touch.

I think our little Juicy is finally growing up and learning that too much embellishment can look gaudy and cheap. It’s a lesson we all must learn.

Project Runway Comes to Steve & Barry’s

I did the unthinkable this Thanksgiving weekend: I missed Project Runway. I was busy traveling across the country and indulging in family fun, what do you want from me? I will of course catch it when they rerun it a million times this week–it’s all TiVo-ed up and ready to go.

I did find out that Sarah Jessica Parker was the guest judge instead of Jon Bon Jovi like everyone thought.  That’s what I call a trade up.  The winning look belonged to Victorya Hong, whose full and vested dress landed a place in SJP’s Bitten line.

The dress is available in a couple of colors at the Steve & Barry’s flagship Manhattan store and will hang around on the discount retailer’s racks for several weeks.

On the flipside, the very confident Marion from Texas was out as a result of what Michael Kors dubbed the “Pocahontas outfit.”

Black Friday: Shop ’til You Drop

The biggest shopping day of the year is just days away. Personally, I wouldn’t dream of venturing into a store the day after Thanksgiving since I can’t handle the crowds and the pushiness, but cheers to those who can. It’s a great time to find good deals on sweaters, scarves and other holiday gift staples.

For instance, you can get cashmere sweaters for $29.99 at Old Navy and boatneck tees for $10.

There will be more to come as we get closer to Black Friday. Here are some sites that will help you out (some even send you alerts!):

Handbag Deal:Maxx New York in Suede Satchel 20% Off

Posted November 20, 2007 by valentina

I like a suede bag–it’s emits a certain luxury but still has a cool, understated quality as it ages. This one from Maxx New York is extra special because of the structured leather detailing and the rusty wine color. I also adore the zippers.

I’m all for companies like Maxx New York and Hype because they make stylish, good quality bags for a lot less than  the big names, and they still hold their own. This bag even has a cute leopard print lining.

American Music Awards: Jewels and Metallics Rule

Posted November 19, 2007 by valentina

Metallics just won’t quit–they’ve been the award show staple for so long now, and they were still going strong as of last night’s American Music Awards. Lots of ladies did gold or silver for the show, and some even added jewels to the mix. Looks itchy.

As usual, Rihanna wins. Oh, and equally as usual, Beyonce went the extra mile and glittered her bosom.
