Unlike other brands who manufacture products in wild scents (Birthday Cake, Mimosa…), the ones from The Good Home Co. are light, refreshing and approachable for both sexes and for any age. Trust that smelling like grass is actually a good thing. (Although, I must say I was weary… anyone remember that awful Grass fragrance The Gap came out with in the ’90s?)

The line is made in the USA with natural, biodegradable ingredients, and the the packaging is pure country-chic. I could totally see this line in Martha Stewart’s bathroom. On a side note, for those who prefer more traditional scents, Lavender, Italian Citrus, and a few others are also offered.

My dad is super adventurous when it comes to skin and haircare products. He’ll pretty much try anything and is always excited when I have something new for him to test out. My brother, on the other hand, has a handful of products he loves and trusts and rarely deviates from them, while my boyfriend only opts to use products, other than deodorant or shampoo, in dire circumstances (i.e. in the heart of a brutal winter day when his skin is beyond cracked). What all three can agree upon, however, is that Kiehl’s products are no-fail. Not only does the sleek, simple, no-frills packaging appeal to them, the products do what they say without causing irritation. Typically if I get a Kiehl’s sample I’ll pass it on to one of them and ask for their take, but a wrinkle-fighter isn’t something any one of them would ever admit to wanting so, when I received two small samples of the brand’s new Wrinkle Filler, I opted to try it out myself!

The sample had enough for about a week, so I can’t vouch for the long-term results, but I can say that it does live up to its “instant filler” claim by smoothing lines. If anyone has used Dr. Brandt’s Pores No More, it’s a bit like that, but more fluid so it won’t absorb oil as well. If it weren’t for the somewhat clinical smell I would say that it could be used as a primer to even out skin pre-makeup, but because of the odor I’d suggest using it at night, post cleansing skin.

Knock on wood, while I do have fine lines around my mouth, I don’t yet have wrinkles, but Kiehl’s did clinical tests and found that after four weeks the filler minimized the number and size of facial lines…sounds more inviting than Botox to me!

While the weather is changing, our skin needs to adapt. A meteorologist would tell you that it has to do with the moisture in the air and the imbalance of dry heat from our homes being turned on one day (when it decides to pour outside!) and turned off the next, when it's 80 degrees outside. How is your skin supposed to cope? All of the fluctuation results in imperfections and dry spots in the parts of your body that are most exposed to the weather (mostly your hands, face, and feet). Feet you need to take special care of, because soon they are going to be out in the sandals, and you don't want them scaly and dry. You need to protect your skin with moisturizers that address the specific needs of your hands, feet, and face.

Recently, Acqua Essentials sent me a product to try out: the Acqua Essentials Caviahue Nourishing Moisturizing Cream with Thermal Water from Caviahue, Patagonia. Acqua Essentials is a company new to the United States originally from Spain: but they have been having so much success with their thermal water products that they decided to branch out the company.

Thank you Acqua Essentials: now I'd like to provide my unbiased review. As with any product, this one certainly comes with its positives and negatives.

The thermal water is pretty cool: it activates the moisturizer to better absorb into your skin. The downside is it's a thick cream that smells slightly like vaseline, and though it recommends for the face I think it's a bit too oily for that. I like it much better for the hands and feet. I'm not sure whether I'll be buying this for my face since I'd prefer a product that is a little less heavy and overwhelming.

Acqua Essentials has a boatload of products to enjoy, including thermal mud masks and anti-wrinkle creams, all with their special thermal water agent. I'm going to test these out next, and I'll let you know what happens!

Note: these are not my hands, and the actual results may vary.
