Happy Halloween, friends! The day has finally arrived and I know several of you probably already got in a good dose of Halloween festivities over the weekend. Of course, the party isn’t over yet. We still have tonight to dress up, go out and have a great time! For those of you who are still looking for a costume, haven’t decided what to be or want something different than what you wore over the weekend (wearing the same costume more than once? never!), here are some great, easy-to-put-together ideas for the final round of Halloween celebrations!

Mime. A simple striped tee and black pants are the main pieces (and chances are you might already have these in your closet), then all you need are a solid, stand out silk scarf around your neck and white gloves (you know, the inexpensive ones that come in a 2-3 pack?). Finally, paint your face white and do your eyes in black eyeliner and lips in red a la mime.

Lumber Jack. This is another costume that requires simple pieces, which might already be in your closet (or that of a friend’s!). Grab a plaid or flannel shirt, tucked into some denim bottoms (could be pants or shorts, if you’re feeling sexy), a knit beanie, then get crafty. Cut out an axe out of cardboard and cover the axehead in foil. Boom! You’re ready to chop down the Forrest. (But don’t actually do it.)

Librarian. You have a pencil skirt and a button down blouse you’ve only worn to your job interviews, but now you have an excuse to dust them off! Tuck the blouse into the pencil skirt, tie a cardigan around your neck, pull your hair back into a neat bun and grab a couple of books to carry with you.

Prom Queen. You know you have some fancy gown collecting dust in the back of your closet somewhere. Take that pretty (or outdated?) thing out and get all gussied up! Unlike celebrities, we don’t always have the chance to dress up in formal wear, so why not take Halloween as your opportunity. Grab an inexpensive plastic crown from the store and, if you’re feeling crafty, make yourself a sash that says “Prom Queen”.

Greek/Roman Goddess. This is as easy as it gets. Grab a plain white sheet and strategically wrap and tie it around your body like a toga. Be sure to wear something that covers you well underneath and compliment with some gladiator sandals, gold jewelry/accessories and makeup.

Halloween isn’t until Monday, but for the majority of us Halloween goers, this weekend will be the real celebration. I’m talking Friday and Saturday night Halloween bashes, friends! So dust off your party shoes, have some fun with your costumes and get ready for this year’s Halloween festivities. But before you get caught up in your costume, there are some things you should keep in mind. Here are the Do’s & Don’ts of Halloween Fashion…

DO: Dress Up! If you plan on heading out for a night of Halloween fun with your friends, costumes and all, make sure you do it right. Get into the spirit of the holiday and dress up. Let your inner kid come out and relive that superhero or princess fantasy! It doesn’t have to be intricate — something simple and easy can be just as fun!

DON’T: Be Lazy. There’s a difference between easy and lazy, and when you toss on that shirt that says “This Is My Costume”, then you’ve crossed over to the lazy side. Put a little bit of effort into your costume and have fun with it. This will be the only day of the year you can be whatever you want to be, and have it be acceptable.

DO: Go Sexy Chic. Halloween is known to be the one day when girls can dress, uh…well, scantily — for lack of a better word — but that’s not necessarily the case. You can be sexy in a fully-covered ensemble just as well — if not more! If you’re showing off a lot of leg, cover up top, and vice versa. They key is to balance, wear what flatters you, and be your naturally sexy self!

DON’T: Leave Little to the Imagination. True, girls can get away with showing off a little more skin than usual on Halloween (it’s almost expected these days), but that’s not really an excuse to prance around in lingerie and sky-high heels (leave that to the Victoria’s Secret Angels). You still have your dignity to consider and you probably may not want half-naked pictures of you on Facebook for people to see. Just saying.

DO: Dress in Unison. One great way to get attention is to get your friends involved in a theme. You can do characters from a movie, TV show, a musical act or even cartoons. The same goes for couples’ costumes, which can be lots of fun to do with your significant other.

DON’T: Wear That Costume. Again. As tempting as it may be to wear your mummy costume that won you the “Best Costume” Award once, don’t do it. You’ve worn it for three years in a row and it’s not award-winning anymore. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on a new costume, either. Just get creative and come up with something fresh — it can even come right out of your closet!

If so, how much body did you bare? If you’re like a giant slice of the female population, you left little to the imagination. Shelf after shelf of costumes in stores for the past 10 years have stocked with nothing but low-cut costumes and cheap props and accessories to help onlookers decipher what you’re meant to be — devil horns and pitchfork, bunny ears and cottontail, etc., to go with that low-cut onesie.

My question is this: Why do women think Halloween is carte blanche to dress up like street walkers? And why is this desirable? Such trashy displays surely don’t attract the right attention — unless you like lecherous men — and there are far sexier ways to dress up without everything but your nipples and crotch on display. In fact, I saw a full-body Avatar costume, complete with prosthetic nose and braided hair, that was probably the sexiest thing out there. Not a shred of real skin on display. That was a cool way to do body con without getting trashy.

In fact, other than the self-respect as womankind, I miss the artful use of makeup and imagination on Halloween. Look at any of the slutty costumes, and youÂ’ll find that theyÂ’re accompanied by layers of tarty makeup, slapped on in the manner of Kim Kardashian by people who apparently harbor secret desires to look this way, but only have the cojones to do it one day a year.

Where are the green witch faces? The artfully decaying palors? The blue Smurf face (and, no, not so you can be sexy Smurfette)? The bandaged mummies or dirt-smeared Indiana Joneses? When did it become a holiday about look louche and cool or sexy rather than like youÂ’re having a good time!?

Halloween, growing up, was a great way to unleash an uninhibited creativity you couldnÂ’t exhibit on a daily basis, because, well, itÂ’s not socially acceptable (unless you run in certain circles) to wear a set of fangs and fake blood to the office or don that particularly bulky Gumby suit. ItÂ’s now just a thinly veiled excuse for a certain sort of (one must assume low-self-esteemed) woman to turn herself into as much of a sex object as she possibly. You know, without the fun of wearing real costumes and doing seriously interesting costume makeup. And FYI, being Lady Gaga in one of her next-to-nothing costumes isnÂ’t original or interesting… or beautiful, which is what I assume — along with sexy — you were going for.

I’d rather be one of a group of girls dressed up like the Ghostbusters any day — and no, not a sexy one!

Once again I am broke this Halloween so I can not afford a fancy “store bought” Halloween Costume but must again rely on my own creative juices and whip one up at home. I have decided that the perfect costume choice this year is “TOMMY LEE & PAM ANDERSON”. My friends always throw an awesome Halloween House Party every year and it has sort of become tradition that we one up each other with most “creative” costumes. Some past winners have been “Homer and Marge Simpson” and “Yoko Ono and John Lennon” … to give you a glimpse into what I mean.

The reasons for this decision are simple:

I naturally have the boobs to make this idea work

I could just wear a corset I already own (red or black) and pants or a skirt

The only thing I would actually need to buy is a blonde wig and some fake tattoos

My partner in crime has plenty of tattoos already but we could also buy more fake tattoos for him as well

The personality and lifestyle that these two morons project is exactly the type of attitude one should have for Halloween!

Do you guys know of sites or stores that provide “custom made fake tattoos”?

What do you guys think? Original enough or we can do better? What are you guys going to be for Halloween?
