Every year during the month of October, numerous fashion and beauty brands join the Breast Cancer Awareness movement by designing special BCA products and donating proceeds to charitable causes that support breast cancer research and awareness. While the best time for giving is anytime, you, too, can help spread the word this month by showing your support of Breast Cancer Awareness with the purchase of BCA products. We’ve picked out some of our favorites here on Smarter.com, ranging from lipstick to a sparkly cocktail ring. Check out our slideshow of Breast Cancer Awareness picks and then join the movement!

As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and countless beauty brands are contributing to the cause. Among the most notable is Murad, with their Hydrate for Hope Duo. Priced at $85 (the retail value is $130), 10% from the sale of each set will be donated to City of Hope for breast and women’s cancer research, treatment, and education. They expect that they will be donating about $1,000,000! Murad is an awesome skincare brand — I swear by their Clarifying Body Spray, which I spray all over my body immediately after I workout and it prevents breakouts; plus it’s refreshing! This particular duo has two 1.7 oz jars of their cult-favorite, Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture, which is just what most of our faces need when the temperatures drop and our faces are parched (i.e. what happens right about now if you live on the East Coast!). It’s been clinically proven to give skin up to eight hours of hydration and it works even for those with sensitive or combination skin .

I love this moisturizer because it absorbs quickly (stops my boyfriend from complaining about my face being “sticky”!), it leaves skin feeling velvety smooth, and you only need a tiny amount of the cream for it to be effective. Speaking of how much you should use, it’s important to remember that skin can only absorb so much product. If you apply too much serum/cream on your face, your skin will be unable to absorb it and it will just sit on top of your skin. Sometimes less really is more!

Fashion can sometimes be seen as superficial. We get caught up in the glitz and glamour of it, without thinking much about the meaning behind our clothes and accessories. Fortunately, we can change that by shopping for a cause. There are a lot of great fashions out there right now that also give back to charity when you make a purchase–especially charities that support women. Style’s got to be a little sweeter when you’re wearing a piece that helps benefit a fabulous cause, right?

Here are some amazing, fashion-forward items that give back. Take a peek. I think you’ll love them!

Stuart Weitzman and Hollywood’s A-list give back… Ovarian cancer is often referred to as the silent killer, because signs of the disease tend to only show up in the late stages of development–which is so devastating for many. Shoe-extraordinaire Stuart Weitzman is graciously giving all the proceeds from several kicks in his new fall collection to benefit ovarian cancer research. And get this: Each shoe is co-designed by a celeb! Check out Hayden Panettiere, Michelle Trachtenberg, Olivia Palermo and Scarlett Johansson’s booties and heels, any of which would be an excellent addition to your fall wardrobe. Snap them up now until September 10! And help support research that could save women’s lives by finding ovarian cancer sooner.

The Nakate Project helps AIDS victims in Africa… I discovered this organization from a Twitter friend, and I love the idea behind it. The founders of the Nakate Project traveled to a small town in Uganda where many women and children suffer from AIDS. These courageous villagers struggle to survive in any way they can, and some make beautiful beaded jewelry, which the founders took home with them after their trip. They were determined to help the women of Africa get on their feet, so the team sells the jewelry made by the village ladies and gives them back the proceeds. You can shop the entire collection online. Are you wondering, Why the name? Well, it belongs to a young girl from Uganda named Cossy Nakate–who immediately stole hearts with her gorgeous smile. You can see her lovely grin on their website.

Look chic in a design by Jennifer Aniston, and help breast cancer research… Jennifer Aniston teamed up with Ford to create this cute “Reach for the Moon” tee in honor of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (although it’s available for purchase right now!). And guess what the best part is? A whopping 100 percent of the net proceeds go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The second best part? This tee would look totally amazing under a blazer, while paired with jeans and boots. Snap it up! It’s a bargain at only $20.

What are your favorite fashionable causes? If you know of other great ones, give them a shout-out in the comments.

Dermalogica is one of my go-to brands when my skin is acting up either because of stress or because of environmental aggressors. The amount of research that goes into each of their products is astounding and the brand actually runs a whole school where they train thousands of aestheticians! Needless to say they’re reliable and effective. Now they’ve launched an awesome new initiative in partnership with Kiva.org, joinFITE.org, that makes splurging on their products all the more enticing.

Did you know that 66% of the world’s work is done by women yet…
70% of people living below the poverty line are women and only 1% of the world’s land is owned by women?

Dermalogica’s new initiative is designed to provide micro-loans to women entrepreneurs in low-income regions of the United States and 56 other countries to help change these alarming statistics.

How can we get involved? For the next two years, five of Dermalogica’s most popular products will be re-packaged in FITE-themed packaging – buy one of them then work your micro-lending muscles by going to the joinFITE.org Web site and entering the code printed on the packaging. Each time you do that Dermalogica will donate $1 which will be made available to an entrepreneur of your choice within hours.

The collective impact of such an initiative could result in something truly astounding, giving women and girls around the world a much deserved feeling of empowerment that will hopefully lead to faster economic growth in countries that desperately need it. And hey, if we can get great skin in the process…it’s a win-win!

HerRoom.com is hosting their 2nd Annual Undie Awards which helps raise money for cervical cancer education. I’m sure many of us know someone who has fallen victim to cancer, so please take a minute of your time to simply vote for your favorite brand of underwear to help this cause. Every time someone votes Her Room will donate $0.25 to the NCCPEC (National Cervical Cancer Public Education Campaign) Go to TheUndies.com to vote. Â

                                           Â

This year men can also vote for their favorite brand! So, send this to your boyfriend, father, brothers, pals, etc. I don’t want to influence your vote or anything, but I had to put this old picture of the Calvin Klein ad with Mark Wahlberg for your viewing pleasure. After all, he is in his undies isn’t he?Â

After you’ve completed your vote you will be able to get a 10% off coupon code from HerRoom! Sounds good to me! (I’m thinking the men who vote will get the same offer from HisRoom.com….?) One reason I think this voting is awesome in general is that fact that it creates more competition within the “underwear” industry so they will strive harder to produce the best and most comfortable underwear for us all!
