5 Reasons To Embrace Your Pale Skin

I like having a tan. Or really, I like having a fake “glow.” I think there’s something healthy-looking about color. And yeah, that is pretty ironic considering pale skin is the epitome of maintaining healthiness.

Lately, I’ve been embracing my ivory complexion. I’ve been ditching the faux glow and letting my skin go au naturel. And I’m liking it.

Haven’t learned how to let it be and stay away from the bronzed look? Here’s why you should learn to love your gorgeous, undamaged skin.

#1: A bold lip. There’s something really pretty about a bold lip on ladies who have pale skin. (Think of Gwen Stefani, Taylor Swift, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie, who all have rocked a major red shade.) The contrast is spectacular. Tan skin and a red lip? Less dramatic. For Valentine’s Day, when a red lip is very festive, you’ll be happy to be sporting a lighter tone.

#2: Minimal upkeep. Spraying yourself with a mist or heading out to the salon 24/7 is a lot of work. You can nix the upkeep by going natural. Plus, take the money you would have spent to get the glow and buy a new outfit. Love that alternative, right?

#3: Looks fab with dark and light hair. Lighter skin looks great with any hair color. If you have blonde or red hair, it’s almost an angelic look. For day to day, wear a pastel pink lip color (great for spring!) and simple mascara. For dark-haired ladies, the difference between your locks and your skin is striking. Take advantage! Highlight your eyes with a sweep of liner, with a tiny wing, and wear basic cherry lip balm.

#4: Blush looks best. Blush doesn’t always look right on tan skin. You have to wear bronzer, and that can go too gold or too orange in an instant. Yikes! But blush looks great on pale skin. And you only need a little bit. It will go a long way. Put pale pink powder on a kabuki brush and sweep along the cheekbones in swirling motions. Voila! A perfect kiss of color.

#5: No worries. The best part of going sans tan? You don’t have to worry about any sun damage, or pouring chemicals on your sensitive skin. You can go about your beauty routine with less worry, focusing all your attention on looking great. (And hey – the “no tan” thing is just as in style as the “tan” thing, so why not opt for the healthy option?)

Do you like a bronzed glow, or have you embraced pale skin?
