Are you ready to start the week, darling fashionistas? OK, I know the answer to that. I’d bet you’d rather be in bed than on the web perusing the blogosphere on your break but, hey, at least I can give you the next best thing: My list of Monday’s Obsessions!
(You’re welcome.)
Short hair. Here’s to beauty risks! I joined the ranks of celebs like Brooklyn Decker, Olivia Munn and Keri Russell over the weekend when I had a whopping 11 inches of hair chopped off. And it is short, ladies and gents. The “mod bob” I’ve been obsessing about for months and months falls well above my shoulder. But I’m lovin’ it! Here’s why: 1) My head no longer feels heavy from the weight of my hair which is super-duper thick; 2) Short hair is incredibly on-trend; 3) I feel so much edgier. And we all know how much I like to feel somewhat edgy. So, case in point: Take a bold beauty risk! You’ll never know how much you will love something until you try it out. (P.S. If you want to cut your strands, the surest way to avoid hair regret? Donate to Locks of Love. You will have zero regrets.)
Pinterest. A slight bummer that comes along with the major hair makeover? All the hairstyle ideas I’ve been saving for long locks are no longer relevant to me! At first, I was momentarily distraught. But I quickly realized that it was all good, because we live in the Age of Pinterest. Which is, of course, a saving grace for every style maven. I’ve already found this adorable updo to replace all the ponytails and braids I’ve been working recently (and, on a fashion note, I found a ton of amazing outfit ideas today, too!). And thankfully, I can still revert to the “not doing my hair” thing if I must, just as before, because hats work for all hair types. Wonderful!
The Beauty Department. You know my love of Pinterest for great ideas, but I also love that it brought me to this blog: The Beauty Department. It’s been around for a while now, but it’s flown right under my radar. (Sad, sad!) This site is tutorials galore, brought to you by a fabulous trio of very gifted beauty gurus. Lauren (as, in, The Hills‘ Conrad), Kristin Ess and Amy Nadine post things like their make-up “inspirations” and hair “obsessions” along with the how-to’s, but the tutorials are so perfectly laid out and easy to follow, you have to check them out. Whether you’re looking for the best method and products for a wavy-hair ‘do, or need tricks for a simple n’ chic nail trick, I’m sure you’ll find something you love on the site.
What are you obsessing over today? I’m dying to hear, so spill it in the comments!
