It’s Blogger Tuesday, y’all. And it’s also a perfect opportunity for a little style school. I’m dubbing today “An Education in Style Sophistication.”
Meet Caylee, the fabulous fashion blogger behind if you seek style. She lives in the great city of Chicago, loves a good bargain and knows how to pull together a super-chic look, like the one to your left. Let’s talk about why it works so well, and how to incorporate these ideas into your style…
Boyfriend blazers are the epitome of cool. If you don’t have a really fantastic boyfriend blazer, make sure you put it on your Christmas list ASAP! You can wear it with anything to add instant polish and loads of cool. I’m in love with this piece. Extra note: Try to nab a blazer that’s a bit oversize for the weather and the mod look.
Bracelet, watches, bangles… Roll up the sleeves of your blazer, cardi or coat like Caylee to show off an armload of jewelry. You don’t need anything else accessory-wise if you focus your extras in one place. Bonus points if you mix metals for the I-just-threw-it-on vibe.
Add a pop of (subtle) color. I love Caylee’s cords! The cut and rich color are perfect. The deep burgundy color acts as a pop of interest, but also works as a neutral and goes with so many other colors. Black cigarette pants would look good, but a little subtle color looks great.
Mix black and brown. Who ever said that your shoes and bag have to match? Caylee broke the rules and paired a cognac brown bag with black heels – and it works so well. Just keep it neutral, and make sure your blacks and browns look different enough, not like you’re trying to match. If so, pair away!
Embrace ankle boots. Ankle boots are chic with skinnies and a blazer, or fantastic with a fancy skirt and embellished blouse. They are the shoes of the season. Invest in a black pair, a gray pair, and one in a fun color for extra-special events. They should be go-to (wear them over the holidays)!
Do you love Caylee’s look? Then make sure to check out if you seek style. And I, dear friends, will see you here tomorrow!
