Happy Blogger Tuesday, friends! Can you believe the holidays are actually upon us? If you are as stunned as I am, and totally forgot to start planning your attire for the festive season, I have a treat for you today…
Meet Kimberly. She’s the frugalista behind Penny Pincher Fashion and consistently puts together million-dollar looks for mere pennies (or, you know, it takes a few bucks… but still). I’m so smitten by her use of sequin in today’s Blogger Tuesday look, and this other look from an earlier post of hers, that I had to share the secret to her sequin success, especially for a holiday outfit. Black tights = sophistication. We all want to look a little more sophisticated during the holidays, right? Well, black tights add just the right amount of Parisian chic to any look. And they go with everything. What more could you want?
Wear the same color shoes to lengthen legs. On that same note, a pair of black booties or heels like Kimberly’s makes you look tall, long and learn (just like nude heels lengthen bare legs). So keep that color uniform. Use this trick over the holidays. And always.
Don’t distract from the sequins! Please do not distract from a truly gorgeous sequined top by loading your look down with an over-the-top necklace, or eye-catching arm of bracelets. Keep it simple like Kimberly. Her extras just meld into the look. Take a cue from her! The sequins are dazzling enough – they don’t need a lot of assistance.
The complementary hue of the skirt is spot on. What I love about Kimberly’s skirt is that she uses color without clashing. Black would be an easy way to go, but it’s expected. A bold color like purple or blue would distract from the beauty of the top. This soft, olive green skirt is perfect. It’s just the right bit of color, and has a warm undertone just like the gold. It’s about developing an eye for the right hue at the right time. Props!
