Do you ever forget about the amazing items in your closet?
…Guilty.
I just finished perusing Refinery29′s photo gallery of amazing (and mostly affordable) camel coats, as worn by the site’s staffers. And guess what? I spotted a gorgeous H&M blazer/jacket that I have yet to take out of my closet this season. And we’re basically in the third month of fall. I feel so ashamed! (I plan on wearing it tomorrow. If that’s any consolation…)
On the topic, I think every girl should have a super-chic camel coat. These little numbers have been around since the beginning of fashion time (well, OK – maybe not, but they are classic), so they’re definitely worth dropping a little dough on. Here are a few ways you can wear your camel coat, depending on variation.
Classic Camel Coat + Jeans = Everyday Uniform
Your classic camel coat is made of heavy material that will keep you warm all winter, and probably has statement buttons and a chic collar. You can wear this coat with anything, really, but I chose jeans to keep it simple and everyday wearable. Swap jeans for slacks and heels, or a dress. Your call. You can’t go wrong!
Camel Blazer + Full Skirt = Fall Whimsy
A blazer can be long, or hit right at the hips. Roll up the sleeves to the elbow, and wear a long-sleeve shirt (bonus points if it’s a sophisticated print like stripes or polka dots!) underneath for a cute quirk. Then, choose a full skirt and tights to finish the look. A tulle skirt would look fantastic, or one that’s pleated. Just keep it easy and effortless.
Camel Leather Jacket + Breezy Dress = “Pretty” Tough
As you may know, I am a big fan of contrast. So I think a rich camel leather jacket demands to be worn with a great, yet no-fuss, dress. An ankle-length frock worn with high-heel ankle boots is perfect for date night. A shorter dress with tights, paired with lace-ups or flats would be daytime appropriate. But make sure, no matter the length, there’s a breezy, loose quality to the fabric – both comfortable and perfect for all-day, anytime wear!
