It’s that time of the year again. Time to break out your hard-earned cash for a little holiday-shopping extravaganza! Yes, yes – for your lovely friends and family. But for yourself, too. Because you have to look totally fab hitting up all those amazing Christmas parties, right? I mean, it’d be a shame to feel less than your best with all the amazing looks for the season, and you better get in to stores before Black Friday crowds clear the floors and shelves of all the goodies!
What are the key items you’ll need for the holidays? Here are my must-have picks.
A bright dress. Ditch your many LBDs for a little color this season, and choose a solid bright dress. Purple, hot pink, orange, red and blue are all great options for a holiday party. Choose a black belt to help define your waist, then grab a patent-leather clutch to finish the outfit. The strong hue needs little fuss… so get playful!
A metallic shirt. There are some great gold and silver metallic shirts this season that will look great with high-waisted shorts in leather or lace. Just add tights and a pair of ankle booties, along with stacked bangles and drop earrings. Think metallic (with muted extras), and you’ll definitely shine at your big event.
A fringe bag. If you haven’t jumped on the fringe bag bandwagon yet, now is the time. A small clutch or cross-body bag is perfect for the season to spice up an LBD and make it new again. Plus, after the holidays are over you can easily use the bag for New Year’s, all winter long and into the spring. Win!
Platform pumps. Pumps with solid, platform heels are the kicks of the season, so don’t miss out! You’ll look great donning them with everything from a cocktail dress to a pair of wide-leg trousers. Choose a neutral for more wearability, or a bright like hot pink if you want a statement shoe for the holidays.
A bold necklace. I’ve seen so many “wow necklaces” that would be totally perfect for parties and events. Here’s the thing, though: Keep them short and chunky. Wreaths or necklaces that sweep across the collarbone are perfect for playing dress-up. Choose metallic beads, lots of strands, or bold art-deco detailing for a super-chic look.
