If you’re having a grumpy Monday, I have a few reasons you should cheer up right now.
Did you know that people who smile bigger generally live longer? What about that smiling for just four tiny milliseconds will give the people around you an “emotional high” where they will see the world in a more positive light? …Did you know that if you’re happy, the smile-love will spread not just to one other person in your social circle, but two? And, lastly, unlike Topher Grace’s character would have you believe in Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! (I’m a rom-com fanatic, people) there are two types of smiles: real and fake. They’re even separated into completely different neural pathways–and genuine smiles are always more beautiful.
Feel like puttin’ a grin on now, friends? I agree. You definitely should. Here are a few ways to highlight that gorgeous smile of yours.
Whiten… naturally. At work and can’t run to brush your teeth after your meal? Pack an apple in your lunch each day. Those yummy apples are natural teeth cleansers, so take advantage of their value if you want to freshen up your mouth and smile. And if you’re looking to whiten your teeth in a more natural way at home, Health has a great fix using just malic acid, baking soda and strawberries.
Take advantage of this season’s trends! This season, it was all about the bold lip. Deep plums, mahogany, fire-engine red and dark pink will all make your smile appear a little whiter. And, of course, you have to be super-confident to pull off this trend. So, make sure you have fun and put a grin on while working a dramatic lip color.
Go shopping. OK, I know this is cheesy and somewhat obvious, but you know what always puts a smile on my face? Hitting my favorite stores! If you’ve already invested in some classics for a season, then a second shopping trip is in order. Set aside a small amount of dough for the pretty, sparkly things of the season: extras, accessories and super-trendy pieces. You want to buy the essentials, for sure, but never forget to have fun each and every shopping season.
Now, go. Smile!
