I love watching trends emerge in the celeb world; afterall, it’s celebrities who, more often than not, set the standards of style (whether there’s a stylist behind them or not). Well, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there’s a new kid in town and it’s been making it’s way in for a while now. I’m talking about colorful lace, my friends. Lace has made a serious comeback in the last year but there’s more to it than black and ivory. If you don’t believe me, check out these glamorous ladies rocking the trend:
Kate Middleton. Of course, the Duchess would make the list. She always does. Probably the most sartorially savvy royal out there, this princess never fails to impress with her undeniable sense of style. Most recently, she stunned in a gorgeous navy blue lace dress by Erdem upon her arrival to Canada for the Royals’ North American Tour. Talk about arriving in style!
Blake Lively. The Gossip Girl star is yet another lady who is always on top of her style game. In this month’s edition of Glamour magazine, Lively shows off several gorgeous looks, including a sexy-sweet ensemble of Philosophy di Alberta Ferreti sweater and pink lace shorts. But this wasn’t the first time Blake rocked the colorful lace trend; back in April she stunned at the Big Screen Achievement Awards in a short and sexy red lace Marchesa dress.
Cat Deeley. Last month, the lovely So You Think You Can Dance? host donned a vintage yellow lace dress selected by Miss Deeley herself. First of all, vintage lace is always in vogue and, secondly, a citrus-ey color like the one on her frock is perfect for summer!
Rachel McAdams. When you think Marchesa, you can’t expect anything less than “stunning” and “fairy-tale-like”. That’s exactly what Rachel had going on the red carpet premiere for Midnight in Paris at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. McAdams had all eyes on her that evening when she stepped out in a delicate red lace Marchesa gown.
Scarlett Johansson. The sultry actress has shown her affinity for colorful lace on more than one occasion. Back in October 2010, Johansson knocked ‘em dead in a strapless green lace Dolce & Gabbana cocktail dress at the MTV Movie Awards. A few months later, she showed off her curves in a floor-length purple lace gown, also Dolce & Gabbana, on the Oscars Red Carpet.
Now, this lace trend goes beyond red carpet gowns and dresses, my friends. Like Blake’s flirty shorts and Cat’s vintage frock, you, too, can incorporate the trend into your look, whether it’s in a bold lace top or cozy lace romper.
