Trend Spotlight: Dramatic Colors

Ever since Rose Byrne hit the red carpet a couple weeks ago for the season four screening of Damages, I’ve been sort of obsessed with deep, dark, rich hues. The gal wore a gorgeous dramatic plum shade on her lips and it looked lovely–even in late June! (Check out the look here.)

Luckily, there are a lot of ways to wear dramatic colors…

Lips… Burberry ‘Lip Color’ Soft Satin Stain in Bright Plum -Ditch neutrals and opt for a standout plum, just like Rose Byrne. Either play it way up or way down. A stunning new dress will do the trick, as will skinnies and a basic white tee, accessorized with a great bag and summer scarf.

Eyes…NARS Soft Touch Eye Shadow Pencil in Aigle Noir – Instead of basic black liner, choose a dark green shade with a hint of sparkle. It’ll give your eyes a softer, prettier punch. Plus, I love cream liners–they go on smoother, cover better and last longer. Win!

Cheeks…Hourglass Aura Sheer Cheek Stain in Rouge – Choose a deep color for your cheeks, but stick to the rules! A stain is much better than a powder, because the glow looks more natural, almost like it comes from within. And pair with simple mascara and glossed lips.

Nails…Lippmann Collection Nail Laquer in Bad Romance – You can go wild with nails, from black to blue to this gorgeous mahogany shade. I love the dash of sparkle and the instant drama it adds to any look.

Lashes…YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils in Extreme Blue – As ladies, we often just gravitate toward extremely black mascara. Why not go for extremely blue mascara? I love this YSL shade. It’ll give your eyes an extra pop no matter what you have on your back.

What do you think, dolls? Will you be working any dramatic colors in the near future? Or will you be saving your dark and deep shades for fall and winter?
