The Best Fashion Ideas for Late Summer

I’ve always loved the end of summer. (Well, it has it’s pros and cons, but I’m mostly feelin’ the love.) It’s basically the perfect temperature outside, you can start to transition into fall clothing and I’ve always viewed autumn as the beginning of the Fashion Year, so there’s something so refreshing about the seasonal change. Wouldn’t you agree?

Or maybe it’s just all about the fashion. There’s a lot to love about late summer!

I know it’s the Fourth of July, but aren’t you ready to gaze ahead at the best looks for the next couple of months? Let’s do it! And then, go enjoy some watermelon, hot dogs and fireworks, my dears.

1. Layers. I love the layered look, and as it starts getting a little breezier and a little cooler as we wind down the season, you can start working more clothing into the mix. Try layered tanks and a loose cardigan – or even a tee – some overalls, a lightweight sweater, wedges and a crossbody bag. The more individual pieces, the better!

2. Maxi skirts. In the heat of the summer, you just can’t always wear your hot and sticky long skirt. (Trust me, I’ve tried. Not very comfortable!) Save it for late summer, paired with a denim vest and sweet wayfarers. And make sure to add in some colorful accessories for a little fun.

3. Boots with dresses. Try breaking out some cowboy boots and wearing them with a cute prairie skirt, or with a swingy dress in a pale pink shade. You want the rough look of the boots to contrast with the uber-sweet vibe of the skirt or dress. It’s all about the unexpected!

4. Hats. I choose late summer to really begin breaking out all my hats. You can kind of wear a bit of everything. Try a wide-brimmed diva look (think J.Lo circa 2006-ish) paired with wide-leg jeans and a sleek blouse. Wear a straw cowboy hat with your cut-offs.  Dress it up with a bowler hat, long necklaces, flats and a blazer. Just make sure to wear somethin’ on your head, kids! There are so many great options.

What will you be wearing to make the transition from summer style to fall fashion? Sound off, then go enjoy the rest of your holiday!
