Happy July 1st, fashionistas! We’ve seen the pre-summer months come and go, and we’re already staring down at July? Yikes!
While I’m not super-stoked that the season seems to be dwindling a bit, I am excited to share with you a few of my favorite beauty trends for the end of the summer. We can start thinking about fall, which is undoubtedly the most stylish season of the year. So, just in time for the unofficial summer midpoint, July 4th, here are some late-summer beauty trends to love.
1. Long side braid. Braids are summer staples, but the long, side braid has a sweet, everyday easy to it. My tip? Tease your hair before you twist it. It’ll give the braid an undone look. Because you never want to look too overdone, right? Go ahead and get a little wild, chicas.
2. Dark lipstick. I had no idea how this dark-lip look could work, until I recently saw actress Rose Byrne do super-deep plum lipstick on a red carpet. It was so pretty! And surprisingly lovely for summer when contrasted with soft, voluminous hair and a sweet, sheer dress. Make it work for pre-fall by following a similar style-choice pattern.
3. Low chignon. Buns? My go-to hair look for the summer. When it’s hot out, you’ve got to get that hair off your neck. As we move toward autumn, your bun should get lower. Get sophisticated by changing your high, messy bun to a sleek, low chignon. It’s way more chic, rather than low-key.
4. White cream shadow. I basically stumbled upon this look a couple summers ago, and it’s a favorite of mine for summer and fall. You use the white, creamy shadow to highlight your eyes and make them pop. Apply the shadow (it works best in a crayon-like pencil) to the inner and outer corners of your eyes, blending down the lid a bit on both sides. Then, add two coats of mascara to really make your eyes stand out. It’ll take a maximum of two minutes, and your eyes will look amazing!
