It’s hot out there these days, and my hair is just not getting the mileage I’d like. One day of pretty straight hair, and the next, it’s succumbed to humid, post-thunderstorm weather. Sigh.
So, this summer I am embracing hats. Particularly, I’m embracing the straw fedora–a hat which seems to be in every store and on every celeb this season. (White ones, two-toned ones, classic straw–you name it!) I picked up my second straw fedora up yesterday, just to show you how deep a love I feel for these fabulous hats. Let me convince you why they’re so wonderful, and then view our slideshow to find the perfect one for your summertime wardrobe!
1. They’re lightweight. Honestly, most hats you just can’t wear in the summer for long stretches of time, because your head will be drenched in sweat. (Gross!) I never have this problem with straw fedoras. They have little holes for breathe-ability and they just sort of sit on your head, so they won’t weigh you down. Perfect!
2. They protect your hair. If it’s about to rain and you’ve just done your hair, toss on a straw fedora. The hat will protect your hair from any impending storms, and of course, won’t make your hair sweaty and sticky in the warm, humid weather.
3. They make your hairdo simple. If you’re trying to salvage your second-day hair, it’s easy. Just throw on your straw fedora and twist your hair into a low, messy bun at the nape of the neck. Or, work a sideways braid for an equally chic beauty idea.
4. They have that “cool factor.” There’s just something about fedoras that I totally love. They really made their grand entrance into trend territory a couple of years ago, and celebs started wearing them. Originally, I wasn’t a huge fan. I checked the hats out in stores, but they just didn’t seem to fit my head right. Too tight. Straw fedoras are different. Since the material is a little flexible, they fit perfectly–like a glove. So, you still get that awesome cool factor with all the comfort. What could be better?
I am going to insist you pick up a straw fedora (or two), friends. If you grab just one hat this season, this is the must-have!
