If you haven’t already, I think it’s pretty essential to create a blog reading list. You need a list of sites to visit for inspiration in your darkest hour. (Y’know, that hour when your interest in fashion is beginning to wane because you’re so stressed/tired/overwhelmed… that sort of thing.)
For me, I have an extensive list of blogs I read, and all of them make the cut for different reasons. Some blogs, or rather some bloggers, are ones I’ve grown to love through a shared friendship in the fashion-blogging world. Other blogs are more aspirational, ones I look up to for supreme style guidance. And, finally, others are just flat-out the loveliest darn blogs I’ve ever seen, and therefore I head over to be uplifted and, often, to laugh. Here are a few of my favorite blogs (the list could go on forever, but I will stick to five); ones you need to know about.
The Sartorialist – Before finding The Sartorialist, I never knew one could use only photographs to instruct on style. Scott Schuman captures people with such an incredible, innate fashion sense, we’d be wise to pick up on some of their cues. Whether he’s in NYC or Australia, Milan or Berlin, I can’t help but fall for the international fashions and little quirks that make each person’s look unique.
Pretty Shiny Sparkly -Â I’d like to think that, on my good days, my style is a lot like Kristina’s; pulled-together, polished and pretty. That’s what this medical student’s blog is about! All things “pretty, shiny and sparkly.” What’s not to love, right? And congrats to her, too! She’s recently engaged!
Classy and Fabulous – Sarah’s look is so relatable, which is probably why I love her so much! She and I share an affinity for Forever 21 and might have some workaholic tendencies…but the real reason you have to read her blog? Sarah is just hilarious. I insist you check her site out for yourself and get a good laugh.
The Glamourai – Kelly is the best when it comes to mixing high and low pieces into her look, and her photography is impeccable. This blog is definitely one of the aspirational ones, and I will forever love her one-of-a-kind originality.
a toast. - Sometimes, I just have a crappy day. And when I do, I go read Whitney’s blog! She’s a former NYC-dweller who packed up and moved down to Memphis for her dream job, Director of Communications for her national sorority. You’ll find Whitney’s style sensibilities are very real and very fun, and the rest of her blog is equally such. With hilarious anecdotes and “toasts” to all the things she loves, you’ll fall head over heels for her blog. Go read for a pick-me-up!
