Ask Belinda: To Romp or Not to Romp?

The Question:

Dear Belinda,

I bought a short, chambray romper for the spring but never got around to wearing it. Now that the weather is even warmer, I’m going on a week-long vacation and want to bring it along, but not sure how to style it for a different look each time. What are your tips for wearing a romper?

Thanks!

Belinda Says…

Dear Jennie,

I’ve been on that boat before; bought something that took me eons to finally wear, and sometimes when I wanted to wear it it was already out of season. Luckily, a light chambray romper is the perfect summer companion and can go a long way for a week trip with just the right pieces. Here are my top romper outfit combos for you:

The Cowgirl. I love the combination of chambray (or denim) with brown leather so a pair of cowgirl boots are the perfect touch for your romper. Get into the western vibe with a lightweight plaid top, tied at the waist or unbuttoned for a casual look. Put on a feminine cowgirl hat for an authentic look and finish off with some aviators for a touch of cool edge.

The Bohemian. Feeling free-spirited and eclectic? Go bohemian chic in your romper with a sheer gypsy blouse, unbuttoned and pair of flat gladi sandals. Finally, keep your locks out of your face with an on-trend head scarf and shade your eyes from the sun with some larger-than-life round sunglasses.

The Beach Babe. One of the great things about the romper is it’s simplicity and ease of wear. You just slip it on and you’re out the door! For this reason, I love it for days at the beach. For a stroll along the boardwalk, wear your chambray romper with a pair of flat sandals, fedora and wayfarer shades. Add a lightweight linen scarf and some eclectic bangles for extra style.

The fun part about wearing such a versatile piece like a romper is that the possibilities are seemingly endless. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different looks and wear the ones that make you feel confident. Hope these outfit ideas help you out on your trip! Until next time, happy stylin’!

All the best,

Belinda
