I don’t remember the exact moment I fell in love with hair accessories, but I do remember my style gradually altering to incorporate. Cute headbands, colorful pins, printed scarves… It was like giving my hair an instant pick-me-up. I was a little head over heels. In fact, I still am. And it’s pretty awesome that hair accessories are back in full force for spring and summer! Here are the fresh, totally gorgeous ones you need to pick up ASAP (to salvage bad-hair days and just mix it up).
Bow headband. Totally feminine and slightly over-the-top, add a large bow headband into your look for a little bit of dramatic flair. These looked bold on the runway, and they’ll only show off your standout personality in real-life without having to say a word. Cool, right?
Printed hair scarf. I think Nicole Richie probably made printed scarves popular, but they’re hitting the mainstream now (so are turbans, but I’d recommend stickin’ to this slightly-less-crazy take). Wear with an easy-breezy denim shirt, tailored black shorts and a pair of dark shades. Chic!
Colorful bobby pins. If you’re like me, sometimes you just can’t deal with your hair. (You know. On those days.) Enter cute bobby pins. Colorful ones are very on-trend; in brights, neons, patterns and pastels. If you want to ditch your bangs for a day or just add a little pop to your look, clip in a few and you’re good to go.
Flower clips. The perfect summer hair accessory! Choose a muted neutral if you’re channeling a sophisticated vibe, or rock a bright color if you’re feeling flirty and fun. Pair with a swingy dress and wedge heels for a fabulous look.
Rhinestone headband. I’m so glad these have emerged for the season! Maybe I’m just still obsessed with the royal wedding (guilty) and dream of wearing a tiara like Kate’s Cartier Halo (GUILTY), but this sparklin’ piece is perfect to add a li’l something special to your outfit. Try pairing it with classic black pumps, a pencil skirt and white blouse with a bold bag. You don’t need much, as this glittering piece will pack some punch on its own.
