I believe that accessories are a necessity to make any outfit “you”, but you also have to accessorize somewhat differently for each season. Here are some of my tips on how to perfectly accessorize for these hot summer months.
1) The bag. Go for the bright colors that you may be afraid to wear in the darker winter months! A pop of pink or green is the perfect way to incorporate color into your outfit if you don’t like to actually wear those colors on you. A white bag is also always great for the summer but beware of denim color (if you’re wearing any) transferring onto your bag.
2) Jewelry. You can still go big with your jewelry in the summer; in fact, it’s even better during this time because I find that most hot weather outfits are quite unfussy, so bringing in some statement jewelry incorporates a nice mix into your look. Even if you are just wearing a tank top and shorts, you can add a big statement necklace or cocktail ring and bring people’s attention to your fun accessories!
3) Nails. Nail polish is my favorite accessory for all seasons. In the summer, don’t think that you have to stick with the super brights, although it’s fun and still looks great. I think that, for an unexpected pop, you should go for colors that you might reserve for the winter, like dark grays and purples. You may be surprised at how they show up against your lighter colored outfits and, of course, your tan! Another way to have fun is mixing and matching. I love mixing my nail colors and often go for two shades on one hand, using one neutral color and one vibrant color.
4) Sandals. Leave those flip flops for the beach and find some pretty jeweled or embellished sandals! There is no other time of year where you can pull out your jeweled shoes and no one bats an eye. And what a better way to show off your pedicure, right?
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far and please leave your tips on how you accessorize for the summer as well!
